We were hiking from San Marcello Piteglio over the Ponte di Castruccio along the river to get to the ponte sospeso. It is an impressive hike where you can encounter snakes, foxes and other little animals if you are a bit quiet. The bridge was temporarily closed for repairs, but we had to cross it to get back to our starting point. So it was exciting couse we didn't know what to expect. But we made it safe and sound!…

This is definitely worth the walk from town to cross the Lima River by this suspension bridge. Beautiful views up and down the river with vistas all around.

Easy access to the bridge from the free car park on the San Marcello side of the river The bridge itself is narrow making it a bit of a squeeze passing people coming from the opposite direction We visited in early September so it was quite quiet - there is a cafe/bar and children's play area below the bridge which is easily accessed Well worth a visit but avoid a windy day if you are concerned about the bridge flexing!…

You get some great views from the centre of this bridge. It’s quite a drop to the river below. And it’s free!

I wouldnt go out of the way to visit the bridge, but while in san marcello pistoiese, its a fun thing to do with the kids. They loved it and took beautiful pictures on it. Not for people who suffer fear of hights.
