Visited with my 10 year old daughter we did the Tree Top challenge which lasted about 2 and half hours . Was a bit worried that my daughter might struggle with the harness and safety equipment but she was fine and understood how to do this with no problems . We both had lots of fun and loved the zip wires . Staff were friendly and helpful . Will definitely visit again my daughter said it was amazing and for the amount of time we were there I thought it was good value . We didn’t wear gloves and were both fine without them but I would recommend wearing trousers as some people had shorts on but can be quite rough when you land off zip wire . Did have to pay £8 to park but was expecting this as do visit Delamere for a walk round the forest sometimes so knew about parking charges . As some people have said a discount would be a good idea for people doing activities there .

Attended at the weekend with my two daughters (6 and 9) to do the treetop adventure. The staff at reception were pleasant but the staff on the course were excellent. They were friendly, approachable and mindful of customers safety (including covid-19). I witnessed a member of staff encouraging a young girl who was scared and he was very patient and supportive with her the whole time. The first course is quite easy, but the second is definitely a lot more challenging!

Me an a friend went to Delamere on Tuesday. Really well organised with excellent safety and information briefing . The staff went above and beyond to make sure that the same high standard were being kept in light of Covid-19. Felt comfortable the whole time I was there and would like to say a huge thank you to our instructors Kiko and Emily

I didn’t realise until arrival (and therefore pressured environment due to exited teenagers) that you have to self attach the belay system on and off the safety line at each tree platform. This means that you and your teenagers need to be coordinated enough and most importantly to concentrate sufficiently to complete this task correctly at each tree so that and they / you dont fall off to potential death.
Previously, we had been on what is called a continuous belay - ie once clipped onto the system by staff at the start you can’t make a life threatening mistake . So if you fall you will always be attached , you still get a thrill from wobbles, mini slips etc but you are essentially safe. I was happy with this level of risk and it led me to a false sense of security when I booked this time.
With the self belay system you as the adult supervising - while trying to ensure you concentrate on your own self attachment are responsible for ensuring your teenagers do the process correctly. This is impossible to supervise as they will be arriving unclipping & reattaching at the next tree while you are catching them up as only 1 person is allowed on the line at a time. There is 2 fixation points which helps reduce the chance of error as you clip from one to one and then off.
The staff themselves at the base, during the training, and on the ground intermittently were excellent throughout.
The environment is fab and the site well maintained (use the toilet blocks with excellent facilities on the Forrest car park rather than the single porta loo with que at the venue)
But , for me the risk of my teenagers, myself or my husband of not getting the attachment right at each tree each time and the consequence of death if they did not was just far to high. I have never been happier to hand my daughter’s friends back to their mums.
We will be sticking to the much safer but still thrilling continuous only belay systems in the future .

Thanks for joining us in the Delamere trees and for taking the time to leave us this review. We are pleased to hear that our team were helpful, and you found the facilities here to be good.
To address your concerns about the self-belay aspect of our Treetop Challenge course - we have several checks and risk assessments in place to ensure every participant’s safety at all times. This starts with your training with our trained instructors on Site 1, and continues throughout the experience.
Our supervision ratios have been carefully designed and considered to allow everyone to keep safe, and our instructors do not allow anyone to progress onto the main course until they are happy their training has been understood. This is why our self-belay courses have a minimum age of 10, to help make sure participants have some degree of their own ability as well as their adult’s supervision.
We do offer 2 continuous belay courses here at Go Ape Delamere, which may be more suited to you and your family should you wish to have another adventure with us in the future. Hope to see you in the forest soon, and welcome to the Delamere Tribe.

Loved Go Ape, I did the basic childs course with my 8 year old! He stormed ahead and managed the course with no issues! I, on the other hand, was terrified! I didn’t die and we had fun. My son would definitely do this again, I wouldn’t. That box is ticked!
31 degree heat, I swear I was close to heat stroke but Go Ape don’t sell drinks, they’re not allowed to apparently, due to the forest cafes monopoly on food and drinks. We didn’t bring our own as we didn’t want to carry bags.
Anyway I ended up spending £3.50 in the main cafe on 2 cans of Tango. Because I had to walk past the car park to the cafe my stay was 2hrs and 8mins that cost me £8!!
Loved Go Ape, hated the rip off car park!
Can you negotiate a discount for Go Ape visitors please?

I took my teenage daughter for an afternoon here whilst mum had to do other stuff. We thought it would be great, both being climbers and enjoying ropes courses. We found it overcrowded, some parts of the equipment were way too complicated (and unsafe/incorrect use of gear), plus, the last 2 sections out of 5 were a good 15 mins walk from the hub, with incredibly, NO staff coverage. My daughter would NEVER go again, and I maintain that the treetops challenge for the younger kids is actually a better experience, and not as crowded. We did the adult Treetops challenge. We were on it for two and a half hours, actually moving for 30mins, and the rest was waiting.....
Obviously a cash cow, so personally I'd take that money and spend it somewhere like Chester Zoo, or a local climbing wall for a lesson, and just enjoy Delamere for the beautiful, free, natural environment that it is.

We did the Treetop Challenge, which lived up to its name and was challenging but fun. I think you do need a certain level of fitness to complete it, though. You go through about five blocks of challenges, so you can take a little break if you need it. The Tarzan Swings were a bit scary, but if you just go for it, you'll be fine! The zip lines were disappointing because of the landings. You land on a load of wood shavings and dirt, and can't slow down before, so you could really hurt yourself. If you land facing backwards, you'll land on your bum and back which isn't fun! It took us about three hours to complete the whole thing, but we did get stuck behind a group of people. We were knackered and a bit bruised at the end of it, but that's to be expected! I'd recommend long trousers/leggings but wouldn't worry about gloves (we'd read reviews that recommended them). It's a great activity if you fancy something outdoors and there are some good views to enjoy. Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

We booked a Segway adventure for a family of four but we’re unable to visit at short notice owing to illness.
We asked if we could rearrange or rebook (or even cancel and have a refund) - go ape refused to engage, stating that the booking was ‘locked in’.
Shabby customer service and utter indifference.

Fantastic afternoon out. I thought it was good value for money. We booked the Adventure plus which gave two loops and then an additional part to complete. This meant you got three goes on the zip lines. In total it was about 2.5 hours. The staff were helpful and friendly. I purchased the gloves at £3.95 a pair which although steep was needed as hands were a bit sore even wearing them. Great fun though and wouldn’t hesitate to do again. My children are 9 and 12 and they loved it. Only negative was the £8 parking fee from Delamere Forest. Think a discount for a booked activity would be nice.

I’ve visited Go Ape Delemere twice now. Once with my brother and again with my boyfriend, months later. The first time I visited the weather was bright and cheerful and the second time I visited, it was chilly and quite wet. However this did not impact my experience at all! Both visits were absolutely amazing and truly exciting.
The course is long and fills up half your day and the pricing is so reasonable! The staff are amazing and not at all intimidating like I had feared before visiting for the first time. They will talk through with you at your own pace about what you will be facing and how to keep yourself not just safe but also happy!
Amazing experience and I can’t wait to try out different Go Ape locations.

Is there a spectator place to stand and watch ?

You can follow anyone who is up high on the course from ground level most of the way round. The only time you'd struggle is when your party are doing zip lines.

Will the 'climbing' be open on 23rd Sept? if so how much would it cost for 4 adults and 2 kids over 10 yrs please.

Thanks for getting in touch and for thinking of us Peter. We have three forest adventures at Go Ape Delamere. Our original Tree Top Adventure which is a 2-3 hour experience is £33 per adult aged 16+ and £25 per child aged 10-15 years. Forest Segway costs £35 per rider and our Tree Top Junior Adventure, for those over 1m tall, is £18 per person. Hope this helps and we see you in the trees soon!
