Disappointing.
Oct 2021
Usually a reasonable menu and good food but, on this occasion, a disappointment. We ordered a rack of lamb with rolled shoulder and Dauphinoise potatoes for just under £20. Two small lamb cutlets do not make a rack of lamb and rehashed potatoes do not make good Dauphinoise. Suggest that the menu be re-written.

The Fish stew was good but the sauce was notas good as on previous visits. Doubt if we shall return.

The staff were keen and friendly and cannot be faulted.

Delightful lunch
Dec 2019 • Couples
Have visited this lovely pub before, but not for a few years now.
Situated in the delightful village of Lydden, just north west of Dover, but far enough away from it not to be tainted.
A good sized pub with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, helped greatly at this time of year by the log burner.
We found the service prompt, despite being busy, the staff attentive, knowledgeable and curtious.
A wide variety on the menu in addition to a good selection on a Specials board.
Plenty of veggie and vegan options for those that way inclined. Also willing and able to adapt any/all options in order to cater for Celiacs which is very immpresive.
We were a party of four, our food was brought to the table all together and piping hot. Generously sized portions of perfectly cooked and handsomely presented food. The quality is what I'd expect from a high end restersuant, yet the price you pay is pub grub money, very reasonable pub grub money too.
Thank you to all staff at Lydden Bell, we'll be back soon. A superb venue for eating out, we can't recommend it highly enough. 10 out of 10 without doubt. 👌

Lovely meal in a traditionally English pub with friendly service
Aug 2019 • Friends
I visited with my husband and two friends. We all enjoyed our main meals and the service was quick and friendly. We just had room for a dessert and glad we tried them. The salted caramel ice cream served with the creme brulee was home made and delicious. Will definitely return when in the area.

Unexpected surprise
Apr 2019 • Couples
Stayed at the Chalksole cottages for the weekend and was recommended to eat at the Lydden Bell. From the moment we arrived, strangers, we were made to feel welcome. Unfortunately we arrived at 16:00pm to be told food isn’t served until 18:00pm, but of a pain however the weather was gorgeous and the beer garden is beautiful to sit in, so we sat, drank and took in our surrounding.

Once we sat down to eat, service was fantastic and the food- amazing!!!
The little complimentary Vegetable soup and bread was delicious and a nice touch.
We ordered burger, steak, fish and Ribs meals which came with salad. Lovely.

The pudding, I had chocolate mousse. Divine. If we stayed longer in Lydden, we would definitely have returned.

Great Food and Service
Mar 2019 • Couples
We visit The Lydden Bell regularly and the quality of service and food is always excellent.
Special offers most nights of the week include Pie & Pint, Fish & Chips and others of course.
Food is always very fresh & cooked to order.
The Pies are amazing with Steak & Kidney being our favourite.
The curry soup is wonderful as a prequel with homebaked bread.
Just to top it off the service is excellent.
Cant wait to return on Saturday evening.

Great place
Feb 2019 • Couples
Myself and my husband came here for the first time after the place being recommended by our hosts who we were staying with near by.
It’s was our anniversary and we wanted somewhere with good food and nice a quiet, and it was exactly what we got.
The food was absolutely delicious, I have the belly pork and my husband had duck, both were cooked perfectly and the garnishes were something g different to what we have had before and we would have them again!
Service was brilliant we were served by two ladies who were so attentive and polite.
We will definitely be visiting again.

Wish we lived closer!
Sep 2018 • Couples
Whilst staying in Dover for a few days we had dinner at the Lydden Bell. We had a very warm welcome from the staff. After our order was taken and drinks served we were brought complementary ‘taster’ cups of delicious vegetable soup. My husband had the Hendricks Gin and tonic cured salmon and I had Camembert scotch egg for starters. Very tasty. Main course of Sea bass and tempura scallop and I had trio of beef ... amazing! The beef shin was superb! I would recommend anyone to eat here, fabulous food and very reasonable priced, wish we lived closer.

Character Plus Good Food
Aug 2018 • Couples
This charming village pub restaurant located on the old A2 Dover-Canterbury road offers both character and an extensive menu. You can enjoy a lunchtime choice or a more extensive and slightly upmarket evening menu or Sunday roasts and desserts "to die for!". From steaks to locally caught fish; a range of cheeses and wines to compliment any meal; ity is all here at The Lydden Bell where attentive staff make you most welcome in comfortable and clean surroundings. There is even a "beer garden" to enjoy the country views on a hot summers day.
