The village is a delight (lively and vibrant as well as a beautiful/atmospheric historic quarter) and the castello is delightful icing on the village cake.

We came upon Castello Brancaleoni on our way from Urbino to Sansepolcro. We arrived at the same time as a bus group of Italian tourists who had a guide. We joined the group and we had the most wonderful tour of the Castello, led by Daniela (guide). The highlight of the visit for me was the old torture chamber used by the War Lords Brancaleoni and the original clothes worn by Eleonora and Francesco della Rovere in their portrait paintings by Titian. For anybody interested in medieval castles and the Renaissance make sure you visit. Its most enjoyable and away from the tourist track and don't forget to ring Daniela for the tour - she made it.…
