More than first meets the eye here with a large selection of commercial aircraft, fighters, and helicopters attractively displayed. Outdoor collection is very impressive. Definitely not a real Concorde, so what is it? Majority of information is in German but all the measurements, speeds etc. are easy to understand. For British aviation enthusiasts there are a number of recognizable planes, and many with Rolls Royce engines, along with two or three Westland helicopters. We enjoyed viewing the inside of a couple of the commercial airliners from the 50s and 60s. Pleasant place to spend a few hours.

The Hermeskeil Museum is only known to connaisseurs, and it is a little bit far off the normal tourists track. For aviation afficionados, it is heaven, as there is quite an interesting mix of Eastern and Western aircraft (civilian and miliatry) assembled in this place. And they are all exposed to the elements (with very few exceptions such as the Ju-52). Another dream fulfilled after having visited several aviation sites in southern Bavaria and Speyer am Rhein.
There are many more planes of interest. Many moons ago, my first flight (early 1969) was in a LH Vickers Viscount (and since then, I have been on most of the LH aircraft types from B707, B 727, B737, B747 to various Airbus types). The best is still the A380.

Large private collection off various types of aircraft, with an emphasis on Eastern-European stuff, including rare MiG fighters and Russian helicopters. Well laid out, kid friendly.

Super private owned large aviation museum. Very friendly people and a large amount of interesting aircrafts and helicopters. Enjoyed the day with the entire family. Loved the ejection seat display. Wonderfull settings ( Concorde ) for a nice cup of coffee and some cake ! we surely will come back to this museum next year !

I was on a bit of a pilgrimage to aviation museums and I'd say that Hermeskeil's is definitely beaten by the one in Sinsheim. However, it does have a big outdoor exhibit of European and Russian aircraft types that I haven't seen much (as an Australian) - but unfortunately only a few could be entered or even looked into the cockpit. The interior exhibits are smaller but have a number of interesting collections of parts, most notably the great collection of engines from pistons to the jet age. They also have collections of helmets, control panels (including a V-1?!) and ejector seats. The cafe inside the Concorde is a novelty but not really a great idea given the cramped area and small windows, and they only had a few cheap menu items and there were no staff inside the cafe anyway. Still, for aviation enthusiasts, it's definitely worth visiting here.

First of all you are unlikely to come across this aircraft display by mistake. It's located in the northwestern town of Hermeskiel near Luxembourg. Not only is there a fascinating display of aircraft outdoors but also just as fascinating display of aircraft inside complete with ejection seats and engines of all varieties. Plus as a bonus there is a cafe where you can enjoy a cappuccino inside the Concord aircraft! I've been to several aircraft displays but this is among the most unique.

We have to be ashamed of ourselves as we don't live far from this museum and we've never visited so far.
Well, that was taken care of today. And what a wonderful surprise it turned out to be.
For any airplane enthusiast this is a must. Lots of different planes and helicopters. Lots of airplane engines, some cut open, so you can literally see inside.
The cherry on the cake is the drink you can have on the Concorde. It is a replica but who cares.
Well worth the visit, can highly recommend this trip.
Fits in the category, small but beautiful!!!!

We went here with my 12 year old son. He is mad on planes. If you like planes this is a wonderful activity. There are lots of planes and the information about them are in German but we took a guide book. There are 3 warehouses full and also a really big outdoor enclosure. Some you can climb up and see the cockpit. There is even a space rocket. It was really good. There is a Concorde which has been converted into a cafe. 😆

This was a great way to spend an afternoon wondering around a great collection of planes and helicopters. Although not much available in English we were lucky to have an enthusiast with us to explain everything. I do recommend taking a look round the price of admission was very reasonable.

we were told about this collection and had to have a look for ourselves as it seemed to good to be true, its quite hard to find if you follow a sat nav, its on the B327.
but the search is well worth it, if you into aircraft and the engineering that goes with them then you will be in heaven, as we were.
lots of unique aircraft, mostly outside but with a great deal inside in a really smart modern building, my pictures will give you a taster of what you will see, lots of eastern block stuff which was great including some of there big choppers.
unfortunately everything is in German, but the aircraft names are in English.
some great engines to view and assorted models etc, a small shop selling models etc, but the highlight was having lunch on Concorde, they have converted it into a cafe, not sure if it was 100% real, ie a flyer, it seemed too wide internally? anyway nobody cares, your sitting eating on Concorde.
go there take the kids, a great day out (a min of 2-3 hours).
