I visited Dhermi Beach for a few days in mid-September, which was just after the high season. The pros: The weather was still lovely, it wasn't crowded, and most restaurants and shops were still open. The cons: As others have said, the beach is quite littered particularly with cigarette butts which is really a shame. And since it was after high season, I had trouble finding a boat tour so I could explore some of the other nearby beaches. I think this was partly due to the fact that it was after high season and partly due to the wind. There were several posters advertising boat tours posted around town but they either didn't respond, didn't have What's App so I couldn't contact them, or had already finished for the season. I even walked by the jetty a couple times with no luck. I did meet one gentleman who was willing to do a boat ride to Gype Beach, Piegon Cave, and Pirate's Cave for 50 Euros but that was more than I wanted to pay so I ended up walking to Drymades Beach for lunch one day instead (about a 45 minute walk up the hill from Dhermi Beach and then back down to Drymades Beach). So, in short, mid-September is a perfect time to go and enjoy the beach just don't expect the same level of tourist services to be available, especially if you don't have a car. I really enjoyed my time in Dhermi and hope to return to explore more of the Albanian coast!

Located around 2h from Saranda, and 1h from Vlore, easy to find, just follow the road sign on the Albanian Riviera.
Parking is free and based as first come better spot on the side of the road. Of course there are a few "guarded" parking lots, but unnecessary even if you are driving a Ferrari.
Beach is nice and clean. There is a lot of spaces for your own beach equipment and of course a lot to choose where to rent umbrella and sunbeds if you didn't bring.
Prices depend on the season from 800-2500 LEK (7 EUR - 20 EUR).
Water is fantastic and clear. There is no big part of swallow water, after 1m it gets deeper.
A lot of restaurants and coffee shops to relax and eat. But prices are higher than in bigger cities and supermarkets.
In any case very nice beach with clear water.

I recently visited this beach based on the reviews. Despite Albania it often considered as a beach destination compared to its neighbours Greece and Croatia, it should be a destination.
The prices are cheap compared to other countries although they are expensive for Albania.
The beach is beautiful - the water is clear; the storms that you walk on are smooth. They are a little tough to walk on but there are boardwalks on the beach set up to make it easier.
I recommend a trip here! Spring and fall are the best times to visit.

Now, after I traveled whole Albania on our 2 week tour I regret I didn't stay in Dhermi for couple of days, but only few hours.
Dhermi beach is the absolute best one in Albania, better than Ksamil and Saranda, with crystal clear and blue sea.
Many cafes and restaurants along the beach promenade and plenty of sunbeds.
Place to enjoy and relax.

This is a beautiful place - clear blue water with the mountains in the background. As you come over the Llogara National Park and approach Dhermi and Drymades beaches it’s just stunning.
The beach is wide and pebbly. Lots of accommodation options and we were happy to stay in one just a few minutes walk up the hill which is cheaper than staying right on the beach.
We came in late September so it’s end of the season. They were clearly closing up with sun loungers piled up, plants stacked away etc. Some restaurants and shops were closed and many restaurants didn’t serve their whole menu. The up side of this is that it wasn’t busy! There are plenty of sun loungers on the beach and when it’s high season they’re 8euros to rent but we didn’t pay anything while we were there.
What is really disappointing is the rubbish - it’s just everywhere and actually ruined my impression of this beach. You sit on a sun lounger and look into the sand and all you can see is many cigarette butts, bits is plastic and other rubbish. There are plastic bottles and cans on the beach and it just looked a mess. We cleared up the rubbish next to our seats and filled 2 water bottles (that we found on the beach) with mainly cigarette butts and plastic bits.
The beach is undergoing redevelopment - there was a huge digger on the beach with big concrete slabs and metal. Apparently they’re going to build a boat jetty. The equipment was all there but no works happening. Apparently it will start soon. So it was a little hard to get that perfect picture of the beach with all of that there!
I really enjoyed swimming at this beach especially in the morning on a calm day.
Probably wouldn’t go back - I’d try a different beach next time.

The beach itself is one of a kind, no doubt about that. However, as usual in Albania, the nature has to be exploited in the worst manner possible. Garbage and building debris is everywhere, and as long as it's not in my backyard nobody seems to care. Buildings are not adapted to the surroundings to say the least. Pity since the beach could be a wonderful place, now it's just overrated and dirty. If you're looking for beutiful Mediterranean beaches there are other, much better, non privatized options, perhaps Croatia or Italy.

The beach is simply amazing. Water is pristine clean, and the scenery is surreal. No wonder all the Albanian Prime-ministers spend their holidays there.

Let's get the bad mentioned 1st. Like all over Albania garbage is omnipresent. Still many locals and other Balkan people do not see the problem in dumping anything they cannot use anymore anywhere they feel like. This beach is no exception.
2nd bad: Some beach bars started playing bad loud music terrorizing the whole beach and even hillside area. I wonder how it will be like in July when many will probably start doing this.
3rd bad: parasols and beach chairs occupy big stretches of the beach. I assume they don't own the beach, it's annoying as they ask 8€ per day for 2 chairs and a parasol in June and they block you from sitting in certain areas.
The good.
The water has stunning shades of blue. The beach is mostly gravel, so bring water shoes (for sale in all supermarkets at a high price of 10€). The water is mostly clean as far as I've seen. The EU requested Albania to stop dumping their garbage and sewage directly in the see and that payed off in most places.
When you walk towards Hotel Summer Dream several other beaches without buildings are visiteable. Rock climbing is required.
Another good thing is that no huge building projects are underway in 2018 on this beach. Others suffer from this heavily. (imagine 100 villa's being build on the beachfront. And all the garbage these builders produce and directly being dumped into the sea).
One of the nicer beach options in the area.

Well, from Saranda to Dhermi Beach it's quite a long journey. We had a car and it took more tan two hours to get there. The distance is about 70-75 km but it is not a motorway! If you are staying in an hotel you might be in touch with them to seek help in finding contact details for a taxi.

Andare a Gabicce o Vieserbella , meglio
