There are lots of Roman visitor sites in Germany but rather fewer for their contempories, the Celts (Kelten). Glauburg is perhaps premier amongst those that do exist and as you might expect an archaeological find, in this case a rich burial, is the focus. The modern visitor centre and museum overlooks the impressive reconstructed burial mound but also acts as... More

A recent discovery this is an incredible site and major Celtic centre. Having been hidden until very recently the site had not been pillaged with the result that modern archaeological methods could be used to unearth the artifacts. Complete chieftain graves were found containing spears and ornaments that are displayed in the new museum built at the site. Hessen managed... More

History that we should all know is what one sees at this site which is a Celtic burial site. The museum is very well organized, but I strongly suggest that you arrange to be guided - there are English speaking guides available. I came away with a very different perspective of the forebears of humanity.

My wife and I visited Keltenwelt with a friend who has lived over 10 years in Frankfurt am Main. Our friend likes local history and he took us to this extraordinary museum. Our visit was in December. The landscape around the museum is great. The museum itself is very modern and informative. It has a cafe. It is wonderful to... More

The museum is a very impressive building covering all the aspects of the Celtic culture not only in Germany but in other counties. The exhibits are really interesting and it is possible to learn about a forgotten way of life. There are even inter active games for children.A step into the past.

If you are around this area of Germany and interested in pre-Roman and Celtic history, this is a great site to visit. A little out of the way yes, but worth going. A few German sites are now taking this model (Kalkriese is another) of taking an ancient landscape and both presenting it through an on-site museum, but also with... More
