A ten-minute walk from the town; the castle dominates the surroundings. The path winds its way through the adjoining vineyards before reaching the castle entrance. Although the castle is a ruin there is a staircase leading to the top of one of the buttresses providing...More

The walk/hike up to the castle ruins above Staufen isn't near as hard/bad as it may look from below. It is a steady but gradual incline from the street but the amazing views that surround you are a great distraction and before you realize it...More

The castle ruins were well worth the hike up to them. It is a pretty walk and the views from the top of the castle were gorgeous. Nice spot for taking pictures. The town of Staufen itself is very picturesque.

We walked up the castle ruins and enjoyed views of Staufen at sunset. The walk is a little bit demanding, so be prepared. Explore the ruins and climb to the top of the tower for incredible views. There's a great gelato shop right off of...More

It's really picturesque from town. But if you feel like stretching your legs, it's nice up top too. Not much in terms of historical explanation here, but you can climb one tower for some nice views. There were several photographers waiting for the 'right shot'...More
