A Beautiful Market Square in a Beautful Village near the Black Forest

The focal point of the market square is the late Gothic town hall built in 1546 which you can see in the picture.The original town council hall and town museum are on the first floor. The building's façade is decorated with the coats of arms of families that ruled Staufen for 400 years.The fountain in the square dates back to the 16th century. The figure bearing the Staufen coat of arms and banner symbolised the town's legal right to hold markets.

A very beautiful main square

Staufen has one of the most beautiful main squares of all the local towns and villages, despite the damage that its buildings have suffered from the earth upheaval in recent years.

Nice little market square. Very quaint, gives you a good feel for Staufen. There's a surprising amount of variety in food options, and it was nice and quiet when we visited. If you're in Staufen, you'll probably come to this area and see that it's cute. Nothing worth going out of your way for, but it's a cute town center.
