Awful roast dinner
Nov 2018 • Family
Went here last Sunday at 2pm with my wife and young daughter. Was bad from start to finish. Took ages to get served a drink and then waited for nearly an hour for our food which when it eventually turned up wasn’t even hot! My wife and I had the roast pork with cracking which had soggy roast spuds and waifer thin slices of pork with a chewy tiny piece of crackling. The gravy was the best thing on the plate which says it all. Thing is l, it wasn’t even that busy in there. When my wife asked when the food would be ready after 30mins the staff said they would check, then didn’t even bother coming back. Save your money

good...but not fantastic

Place is great, went there with a large party. Decor is really nice, big spacious place for families, couples etc. Menu is great, though not much for vegetarians.

Ales are great , good choice of beers and overall pretty good.

Bad points? Parking is a nightmare if you are driving. Try to park opposite the green ( which is around a 10 minute walk. If you are lucky, you can park at the green..I got lucky!!;))

Got a roast chicken dinner for my Sunday roast. Chicken was dry, breast part was completly over cooked and lacked flavour. Trimmings were great, though less gravy was given.

Think they are understaffed, service was quite slow, but we're really friendly.

Would go again, try something else, as the pub itself was good!

Charming pub, very welcoming!

We visited The Botanist 3 times on our recent trip to London. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, pleasant staff, nice wine and beer, as well as the homestyle cooking. Both my husband and I commented that if The Botanist was in our home town of Toronto, it would be a favorite of ours!
If you are visiting Kew Gardens be sure to stop by🍻

Disappointing
Feb 2015 • Friends
I visited this week with a group of work colleagues at lunchtime. The bar had 5 pumps, 4 of which were not available and when we chose the 5th , a porter, the pump did not function also as there had apparently not been a delivery! Thus no draught beer at all. There was a choice of bottled beer instead, but I felt that this situation was very poor. The menu was average though when I had the dessert platter felt the three portions were very meagre for the price . The service was adequate though the overall atmosphere was that of not really being bothered and I certainly would not recommend.

Awful
We booked over month ago for 18 of us to go for a our annual family Christmas meal with 7 children. I chose this as I thought it was the sister restaurant to the lovely Botanist in Sloane Square - believe me, it's WORLDS apart!

Even though we had had many email confirmations, spoken to them only the night before they had no record of our booking. Luckily we had a print out of said emails!

One waitress was helpful and got us sorted eventually but the manager was less than helpful.

When we finally got our table after nearly an hour with 7 very hungry bored children there weren't even wine glass, water glasses, napkins, salt and pepper....we helped ourselves!

Gone was the promised Christmas set menu, hello uninspiring menu with everything being "with chips" and it was much more expensive - of course!

Service was poor considering they had a lot of making up to do - a couple of bottles of prosecco dumped on our table was about it.

We did negotiate some money off the final bill but it was still a lot more than the set menu and not all of us even had more than 2 courses!! It definitely didn't make up for their mistakes.

The food was mediocre but my sister and I shared the assiette of deserts that was a complete con- more expensive than the other deserts and smaller portion! And none of them were very nice - not often I put my desert spoon down and don't argue for the last mouthful of my favourite!!

It's such a shame as it really put a dampener on the one time in the year our family manage to get together, with some of our group travelling a couple of hours to get there!

It's such a beautiful area but when I do return to Kew, I definitely will not be going here.

Nice atmosphere and interior, very nice barman (and table service!!! for drinks and food), reasonable prices. Food was a bit middle of the road. I`d go again any time for a drink but probably not for food.
