Poor customer service and attitude
Jun 2021
Really disappointing service and attitude. I paid for a full year's gym membership. Then the pandemic happened and the gym understandably closed.

Since the gym has reopened the sauna is closed. You have to book 1 hour gym sessions instead of using the gym freely. The showers are closed. The swimming pool is constantly fully booked.

All of the above is fully understandable. However, it is also very clear that I am not getting full use of the gym or what I have paid for. Other gyms have given members additional months free given the circumstances.

Unfortunately the "customer service" team don't understand the views of their customers. They only care that they are "following government guidelines." They don't even understand the concept of people getting some level of help or compensation when they don't get the service they have paid for.

It's really frustrating and I feel like I have been ripped off and the people working there couldn't care less if people don't receive a good level of service.

Very poorly run leicsure centre but gary the personal instructor is excellent.

Lovely clean pool, reasonably priced, friendly staff.
Apr 2021
Outdoor pool is fantastic: perfect temperature for swimming, not overchlorinated, generally not busy, and really friendly staff.
As it gets dark, with the lights on and the palm trees silhouetted against the sunset, it is truly a magical place.
Indoor pool is ok too, however it's indoors !
Loads of parking: 1/2 hr free with Richmond card.
If you go at midday on a hot summers day, you won't be able to park, you'll have to queue, the pool will be rammed and full of sun oil, and you'll wish you hadn't gone - however the rest of the year it's amazing !
The grassy field running down from the pool to the Thames is great for a picnic or game of football afterwards - if you go under the trees at the side away from the main road, it's not so noisy.

I always go here in the summer and I’m really happy with how they have opened up now and the Safety measures in place re Covid.

Sadly still closed more than a month after being allowed to open!
Jul 2020
This is a great place but so poorly run by the local council. Open air pools were allowed to open from 11th June, yet plans to open Pools on the Park are only just emerging from our completely disorganised council. Bookings will be open from 27th July for swims in August but no dates yet! By contrast privately operated in-door gyms that could open from 25th July were open on that very day!

Come on Richmond Council, Pools on the Park is a huge asset for the local community and one I have enjoyed many times, please get your act together and open this facility ASAP!

Disapointing

The indoor pool primary function is for teaching. Very little space for general swimming no matter what time you go. Also changing area floor always dirty.

Swimming which didnt happen
Nov 2019 • Solo
Because i have recently had a bladder op plus a cat crash i have had some back issues i have had to use a aqua float which is strapped to me.
I was told today by the manager sorry i cant use it, and i had to provide medical evidence, which i do have but i don't carry it with me 247.
i know swimmers use different types of floats in the pool as i have seen them uae them. I thought how stupid and i told the manager how stupid and pathetic.
I told them i would go else where which i did.
The're loss..... hello Hampton pool.
Won't go to that pool again believe me.

Great pool
Oct 2019 • Solo
I love it here. The outdoor pool is basic and simple no gimmicks not over chlorinated. I read reviews people complain theres a leaf or a 'bug' in it!!! (Whats a bug? In england you say insect)
Who are these miserable sanitizing plastic freakshow j*rks?? Its out doors!! Not too many people unless its hot so you can still do laps and a section for kids to play in. No stupid ott inflatables or dumbass wave machines for people who cant be arsed to go to the coast.
Its a good pool and there are slow and fast swimmers so you have to be mindful. But if youve got a mind it works out well. Large changing area you need to get a locker token. If you want under 5pounds a swim only place I know is uxbridge which is only about 3pounds cheapest pool in greater London.

Excellent swimming pool
Sep 2019 • Solo
I visited the Pools on the Park for a swim this morning. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, providing me with a token for a locker and directions to the changing room.
The changing room is enormous with plenty of large lockers (with a very clever place to hang a coat on chillier days) and lots of cubicles. It was hard to find the toilets; better signposting needed!
After a quick shower, I bypassed the indoor pool and headed to the outdoor pool.
There are 3 pools altogether. An indoor 33 metre pool, a small training pool popular with families, and an outdoor 33 metre pool. There were at least 3 lanes in both the big pools plus space for people who do not wish to swim lengths.
Outside, the pool is heated but not to hydrotherapy pool temperatures or anything. It’s on the cooler side but it’s absolutely perfect if you’re swimming lengths. There are easy steps in and a very deep end at the other end! There were about 12 of us in the pool this morning and it was so easy to swim lengths without traffic jams! It was also lovely and peaceful swimming in the open air (apart from the planes coming in to land at Heathrow every few minutes).
I spoke to two lifeguards during my visit, who were both friendly and helpful.
The showers aren’t the greatest. There aren’t enough and they aren’t very powerful but they do the job.
All in all a good visit and I will definitely return. Sort the showers out and you’d get five stars!

It’s also a bit cheaper than my regular pool in Putney, which was nice!

Could be a great place if utilised properly
Sep 2019
We travelled all the way from Fulham with a picnic to visit the outside pool and grounds, we had checked the website and Twitter feed beforehand to check the pool was open. When we arrived we paid and were greeted by a very helpful staff member, however on entering the outside we were told the grounds were not open, only the pool with nowhere to sit so we could not eat our picnic or sunbathe. We had to get a refund and when we told the manager the reasons why he wasn't really interested. Our gripe is please update your website as it was a wasted journey and a disappointment. We have been on numerous occasions before and it is a great outside that seems to not be fully utilised and the outside grounds are often closed on a whim.

Lovely staff but.....
Jul 2019 • Family
I visited with my teenage children to use outdoor pool, on an extremely hot day. It was busy with large queues.

Staff and security were friendly and polite.

Grounds where also lovely.

The poor rating is due to the cleanliness of the facilities. The indoor pool has a thick brown rim around the edge, which rubs into rolls of dirt. The pool is a hygiene risk. The whole place could do with a deep clean.

Maybe Richmond council should perform a health and safety inspection on their own facilities.
