We saw the philanderer by George Bernard Shaw recently together with a concert by the Allegri String Quartet at the Orange Tree. Both were excellent in their own ways. The Philanderer is an interesting exploration of relations between men and women and was well acted and directed. The Allegri give regular concerts, mainly of Brahms, Beethoven, Mendelsohn etc but this... More

Inspired by its origins as an upper room pub treatre, this is a true theatre in the round, where you are no more than one row away from the actors. There are two floors and my advice is to stay on the ground floor 1. better view 2. closer to the actors 3 theatre lights are up there 4. and... More

I love this theatre which started many years ago in the upstairs room of the pub opposite. There is an interesting range of plays and now it is possible to book an actual seat it is comfortable.

The best part of watching a play here is the unique view from all four sides. Each time I come here, I pick a different side and am never disappointed. Orange Tree always produce great plays with a mix of new writing and forgotten classics.

We often go to this small intimate theatre. Last nights play, When we were women, was not one of the best. However, the theatre is so intimate, with the actors only feet or inches away that it is always an interesting experience. One can really see the nuts and bolts of acting. I would highly recommend this venue, the plays... More

Have been to see 3 plays here now and each one so different, but so enjoyable.Saturday evening had the pleasure of watching "When We Were Women". The acting brought across so much of how life was during the second world war..Beautifully acted and the Theatre is a definite to visit for a close evenings entertainment..Highly recommended.

Saw Each His Own Wilderness with the amazing Clare Holman. The production was amazing and was made even better by the intimacy of the theatre. This is a gem.

I just saw Play Mas at this little gem of a theatre in Richmond and was really impressed. It's in the round, which means the stage take centre place, 'in the pit' so to speak. Due to its intimacy, you're right next to the actors and the acoustics are very good. There is a well-stocked bar upstairs and the seating... More

Fantastic venue. Three rows of seats on the lower level which is flush with the actors 'stage' and only one row on the upper level. Really close to the action and fantastic performance. Oh and ... the ice cream is cheaper than other theatres we have been to in the last few years!

My first trip to this very nice theatre. I sat upstairs, where the seats were much more comfortable than many in similar theatres, and I had a good view of the play. However that did not help much as I did not know what on earth was happening in 'Little Light' until the last quarter hour or so.
