White lodge
Oct 2017 • Couples
As kids we used to call this the white house. Located in Richmond Park near to Richmond Hill gate, this grade II listed building is pure white in colour and is a presence. It is hidden from veiw by the trees from the road. There is a carpark close to the lodge. Stunning veiws from the top of Richmond Hill by the lodge. Refreshments available at the lodge.

Essential for all balletomanes

Try to get on one of the special tours - fascinating house and ballet museum. In the middle of Richmond Park, you can combine your visit with picnic in the Isabella Plantation and a walk in Richmond Park.

Great Attraction for Ballet Enthusiasts

This is not an easy Museum to access for the casual visitor as it is right in the middle of Richmond Park, which does not have close public transport links and there is little or no car parking immediately adjacent to the Museum, so check the website carefully for opening times and directions. However, once there anyone with a real interest in ballet will have very enjoyable and informative hour or two.

Fantastic,Interesting Museum

You are met by a friendly gentleman and driven to the Museum. This is because the museum is in the middle of the glorious Richmond Park and you cannot walk to it. You have to book your visit as the museum is within a working ballet school. You are then told where to meet the driver in a car park on the outskirts of the park. I cannot tell you how fantastic it was to see and experience this beautiful museum. The lady who took me round and explained everything had been a dancer, so she had wonderful stories to tell. To me it held more treasures and history than I could have imagined. I love going to the ballet so to see. feel, touch and learn has been a dream. I will visit again.

A location steeped in history
Nov 2014 • Couples
White Lodge is a house in the Palladian style, added to in later times. Originally a hunting lodge in Georgian times, it was used by various members of royalty and prominent dignitaries up until the 1950s. At that point it became the home of the Royal Ballet School. Occasionally White Lodge offers a guided tour (normally when the Ballet School is on holiday), dates can be found on the website. We found the tour very interesting. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and the school and presented the tour in an engaging way. The tour concluded with a visit to their small but beautifully presented museum. The mix of history and an insight into the life of the ballet school made our visit thoroughly enjoyable.

An excellent visit
May 2014 • Solo
As a ballet fan this was a place I had always heard was fantastic but for those special individuals who were/are the best ballet dances in the world.

To have an insight to the fantastic history associated with White Lodge and to see the beautiful surrounding that are available to those who dedicate their life to being excellence in the field of ballet was just amazing.

The tour was interesting informative and delivered with such knowledge I could not fault any of the experience.

I have to add that although the museum was interesting I was a little disappointed in terms of artefacts from the dance world but I still thoroughly enjoyed the old films and stories and pictures of the past.

Delightful to visit
For any fan of ballet, or former dancer (so many out there)--this museum is a delight to visit. Not easy to get to, a LONG walk from mass transit, it also requires pre-booking. But make the effort--and learn more about the dedication and work required to make it as a dancer.
