Giant seagulls bath
Oct 2019
It's aesthetically very pleasing. Some people enjoy putting bubble bath in there! It's usually full of tourist kids in the summer which the locals find amusing.

Oh dear

This could be sooooo much better. It should have been grassed over and made into a tranquil area. Instead we have a fountain, a bit of grass and a road for coaches and buses. In trying to satisfy all we are left with a mess.

This is a large paved area opposite the pier. Other than a nice fountain not much to say about it. Good bar here.

Fountain Here, Not Much Else

Just across the road from the pier at WSM. A mix of paved and grassed areas. The fountain is the only thing really worth seeing.

Pleasant
May 2018 • Couples
This is a pleasant place to sit and people watch if you want to rest your legs for a few minutes. But it’s definitely not a destination of its own right so I wouldn’t recommend making a special detour.

Grass it over...arrrrrrgh!
Dec 2017 • Solo
This is was a missed opportunity....it could have been converted into a haven of peace, instead we have a bit of grass, buses driving close by, lots of gulls and other sea birds ready to feast on your chips ......and a lot of litter blowing around. The councillors must look at this and scream .... I did!!!

Pleasant open space in the centre of town.

The Pier Square is much improved from the days when it was simply a water fountain surrounded by busy traffic, though you still have to look out for buses which cross the square from time to time. Now there are plenty of seating areas to just sit and watch the world go by. There is also a selection of bars and restaurants surrounding the square with outside seating, Bistro Pierre and the Brunello Lounge are nice relaxed places to eat and drink.

The Carousel Is Pretty
Apr 2017 • Family
There's not a lot to say here really - Princess Royal Square is located just off the seafront (across the road from The Grand Pier) It's mostly pedestrianised now and has a few eateries and a tacky-looking indoor market along it.

Me, my husband and daughter walked along it back in April to check out the menu for Brunello Lounge. Since being re-paved and generally tidied up several years ago it's definitely an improvement, but although there is a fountain and a pretty carousel it's really just a cut through, not somewhere I would want to linger!

Beware pesky seagulls congregating overhead and skateboarding teens.

Nice in the sun
Jun 2017 • Couples
A pleasant paved area opposite the grand pier and is the beginning of regent street.
Nice fountain which is always running and a very traditional carousel. Surrounded by fish and chip outlets and other bars and cafes. Unfortunately it is paved as if a pedestrian area - no curbs - but the traffic passes right through it.
Plenty of tables and chairs to eat your chips at, but please be careful of the numerous cars and buses.
