An interesting building.

You can wander around the 6 floors of the jail and there are numerous information points for you to read about the history of the building. The food in the restaurant was good.

If you've not already visited Bodmin Jail, don't bother; save your money and visit a nearby beach or cafe instead! This place has some potential which, sadly isn't being fulfilled at the moment. Yes, the jail is currently undergoing a renovation project, but do the paying customers really need to see the unsightly mess that is part of the work... More

Just information boards and outdated plastic mannequin set ups. This place has the potential to be fascinating, the place itself is very atmospheric, but it needs a lot of work before it can be called value for money in my opinion. Somebody with a real passion for the place and its history could do great things here.

We went as a family of four and had a great time. little one was a bit scared to start with but soon loved it. there is plenty to see and its all very fascinating. MY kids 8 and 14 were ok but I would say for younger kids its not the most fun place to go. The layout may... More

Well presented insight into the misdemeanours of some of the jail's former inhabitants and their experience in the jail. Some of our younger family members were worried it might be a bit scary and there are quite a few stories to read so small children might need a bit more attention when visiting, but all of our family enjoyed it... Had a lovely morning here with my husband and baby. Lots of interesting info about the jail and crime and punishment in general. The mannequin displays bring some of the stories to life, even if they do look a bit dated. Learnt a lot. We arrived not long after it opened which turned out to be a good idea as... More

We spent two hours walking around several floors. It was much more interesting that I had expected. Afterwards we had lunch in the posh Governor's Hall restaurant. I opted for baked potato and a dessert. I enjoyed both. Nicely presented.

Visited during a recent holiday, on a rainy day in Cornwall. The beach was a no go so decided to give Bodmin Jail a visit, being indoors. Didn't really know what to expect but my wife like's history and I like to visit creepy places so seemed a fair compromise. On approaching the jail, you're greeted by a stunningly gothic... More

The visit was fairly gruesome detailing a variety of felons who were hanged at the gaol over the years. However, it was a compelling visit and an interesting way to pass a couple of hours. The restaurant on the top floor is open for dinner in the evening and we would thoroughly recommend it. Food was excellent, surroundings impressive and... More

It took 1hr 45 mins to walk around, very interesting reading how and why some of the inmates ended up in Gaol. It was one of the few attractions to visit on a rainy day but we felt that £27.50 was expensive for two adults & a child. This attraction is definitely not good for people with walking difficulties. We... More
