    Fabulous
We came here on Tuesday fro a joint birthday lunch with my father. The restaurant had a nice buzz of activity about it and we were warmly greeted and taken to a table that afforded great views over the golf course. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient with a good but not overly big menu. I we chose from the specials board and were not disappointed. Food was piping hot and served on warm plates (cold plates are a big bug bear of mine.) Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, extremely tasty and thankfully not overloaded with chips and so we ate everything. No complaints whatsoever. The price was ridiculously cheap compared with other places we've been to. How did we not know about this place before. 10 out of 10 for a great little eatery.

Superb - great value food and drink
Four of us had a superb lunch in a relaxing, friendly atmosphere, with great service at a table with superb views of the golf course. Also good value prices, including the wine list. We will be back to this select oasis in the Carlisle area.

    No Golf Today!!!!!!!
We have just spent a week in the area close to the Brampton Golf Course, we were recommended by people who live in Wetheral who we met in Seahouses while on holiday. WOW !!! We ate at The Braid restaurant five days out of seven. A very warm welcome from the friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere looking out over the course and what superb tasting food at a very reasonable price. What a lucky find, would advise to book, especially the Sunday lunch. Thanks to all the staff who helped to make our break away a special one.

    Good food, sensible cost.
We went for lunch while on holiday and there was a very good selection of main meals and lite bites. Everyone was welcoming and the waitresses although at times run off their feet were excellent. There are also some excellent views from the lounge and restaurant over the course. We enjoyed omelettes chips and salad followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream that were excellent and represented very good value for money.

    Sunday Lunch .. Delicious
Sunday Lunch ... Delicious !! Lovely atmosphere, very clean, very bright and very cheery. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We all had Roast Beef, although a bit of a wait, it was well worth it, no complaints. Very tender (pink) roast beef, freshly cooked, hot vegetables, Yorkshires obviously home made, and delicious gravy. Couldn't fault it.

We were recommended the cafe, at the golf club, open to non- members.

The place is spotlessly clean and the views onto the golf course are superb. Even for a non player.

Menu was extensive and also very reasonably charged.

When the food arrived; Wow ! Top quality and sizable portions.

Serving staff were attentive and very friendly.

Really impressed by the visit we were.

Quick efficient and friendly service!! Meals were ok. I was however concerned about the lack of shields /face masks - NONE of the staff were wearing them whilst being in contact with customers. A little to close for comfort without them and they also served the meals off the trays instead of us taking them off. No track & trace either!!!

Once again the food at Braid Restaurant Brampton Golf Club was outstanding. Sunday Roast Beef dinner followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding and ice cream. It’s a hard choice to avoid the choice of something else with chips but the roast beef was excellent, plenty of vegetables, gravy and homemade yorkshires simply delicious

Outstanding dining experience, great views and caring service. What more do we need? We celebrated our getting out and together, after lockdown, with a meal out and a few drinks.
The service was excellent and the food wonderful, whether you’re vegetarian, gluten free or plain hungry the menu will make you feel happy.
Plus you don’t have to be either a golfer or member of the club. Everyone is welcome.

I visited here with my mum and her husband for Sunday lunch.
None of us had been before.

The car park is large and we didn't have a problem getting parked.
My mum's husband is disabled and we got a disabled space, although there aren't many of these. The spaces were quite a walk from the building though so not very practical for people that cannot manage longer distances.

We sat in the lounge area whilst waiting for our table to be set as we had booked for the restaurant first opening and they weren't quite ready.

The bar and restaurant menus are the same which I was a tad disappointed about because I was expecting the restaurant menu to be a bit more 'fancy golf club' than just bar meals and snacks.

The tables were a good size and we weren't crammed in. It's not a massive restaurant space though so I think would fill up fast.

The decor was not what I was expecting from a golf club. I was expecting things to be a bit 'posher' but it was rather grubby and needs a refurbishment pronto.
And the servers were VERY casually dressed with creased clothing and trainers on!

The golfers were very rowdy in the bar and lounge area. The language they were using was absolutely foul and they were all shouting and chanting like drunk idiots.

You order at the bar and pay before sitting down, even for the restaurant area. I didn't like this and it felt very impersonal and hardly a restaurant experience.
I ordered an extra jug of gravy but was told that I couldn't order this with my food and needed to ask the server when they brought the food. Why she couldn't add this to my order, I do not know!

My mum and I ordered the Sunday lunch (beef and trimmings) and her husband ordered the fish and chips.

We didn't wait too long for the food to come out.

The fish and chips was an enormous portion and he said it tasted very nice.

The roast dinners were really tasty. Much nicer than I was expecting from the menu and the setting.

HOWEVER.
We visited at the beginning of the Corona virus outbreak, before everywhere closed down but after extra hygiene measures were suggested.
I was sat facing the kitchen.
After I had eaten, I saw the male server enter the kitchen. His shirt was too small for him and kept untucking around the waist.
I watched him took his shirt in and run his hands around the skin on his waist and then right down his bare backside (hands touching his skin underneath his trousers) to ensure it had tucked in.
And then not wash his hands and then bring out plates for a table sat near us.
This is disgusting at any point. But during a heightened risk, completely unacceptable.
We didn't order dessert for this reason alone.

For the food, I would have rated this 4*. But watching a server touch his bare backside and then pick up plates with customers' meals on, I've dropped it down to a 2*.
Won't be back.
