Hen party
Mar 2020 • Friends
Me and 11 other ladies attended Talkin Tarn on 01/03/2020 for my hen do and did archery. The two instructors we had were absolutely amazing. It was a great laugh, fun and competitive. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to return again for more outdoor activities.

UNEXPECTED PLEASURE
Mar 2017 • Couples
The Tarn is a tucked away in the countryside near Brampton but just follow the signs from the A69 roundabout and it is easy to find. Access is free but there is a modest charge for parking. Well worth a visit for its level lakeside walk which is well supplied with seats for those who just wish to sit, relax, enjoy the view or feed the birds. The cafe has open air seating and the prices are reasonable.

A lovely afternoon out for everyone
Mar 2016 • Solo
I recently spent a lovely few hours enjoying the very family, dog , everyone friendly Talking Tarn. There is a well made wheelchair, buggy, dog friendly footpath that takes you a leisurely 50 minutes stroll right around the Tarn( lake).
There are plenty of seats along the way to just enjoy the views. A good Cafe is situated as soon as you enter the Country Park so it is a nice place to visit just to have a coffee and snack. Entrance is free but there is a charge for car parking. I didn't mind this at all as the money goes to the upkeep of the footpaths etc. It was brilliant to see people picnicking on the lakeside and having quality time out.
I look forward to being in the area again and visiting Talking Tarn again.

Lovely place for a stroll
Feb 2016 • Couples
My husband and I came here as it was just up the road from our holiday home. Lovely easy walks around the lake suitable for those with pushchairs or wheelchairs. A little muddy in places but you expect it at that time of the year. Car parking a pound for an hour or two pound for the whole day. The cafe looked busy and there was plenty for children to do including a playground and mini golf. Lots of benches around the lake to admire the view and wildlife. Would return when in the area again.

Beautiful
Feb 2016 • Family
We happened by Talkin Tarn by chance. The lake is in an amazing location and is perfect to get away from it all for a few hours. We walked our grandchildren around the lake pointing out the different birds it made for a pleasant afternoon. Our reward was a nice cuppa and slice in the cafe which was reasonably priced and there was local ice cream for the kids. We finished with a play in the park area - recommended .

Truly a beautiful lake
Nov 2015 • Friends
Beautiful walk around the tarn, topped off with a hot chocolate and cake at the upstairs café (snowy weekend, cold and crisp).
It's a snack bar rather than full restaurant, and dogs only allowed outside so we sat in the cold, but at least they accept dogs.
Downstairs is a totally separate company and doesn't accept dogs, so beware!

Great place, though tea room dissapointing
Aug 2015 • Family
I live nearby and regularly visit Talkin Tarn. 10 years ago it was basically a nice walk and a great tea room.
Now it is up to £2 to park, which is fair enough as it seems the money is being poured back into the place. There is loads to do with kids, with amazingly helpful people running boat/pedalo/kayak hire at very reasonable prices. There is a new climbing activity open, and a reasonable playground for younger kids. Duck food is available, as are really tasty ice creams.First and foremost it is a really beautiful place.
The only disappointment is that each time I visit I get progressively less impressed with the tea room. It used to have real character and serve a good variety of food. Now it only offers a very limited menu, and is run by somewhat unhelpful staff with poor attitude. One poor customer had to ask five questions to have a menu item explained. I have lost the desire to spend money there now and bring a flask instead.
