What better to start 2017 than by a beach walk on Ballyholme beach? That's exactly what we did on 1st Jan this year. Very windy, as ever, but bright blue skies made up for the wind and the cold! You can either stay on the beach or go further and walk to Ballymaccormick Point. Beautiful walk along the coastal path.

Bangor's only real beach since the marina disposed of the beachfront at Queebs Parade. Nice walk on a good day and leads to Ballymacormack point and onwards to Groomsport which is a must for bird watchers

I love ballyholme beach for walking the dog, so many people walk their dogs on the beach. You can go for a brilliant long walk

Ballyholme beach is gorgeous and provides a great walk both for leisure but also a great stretch for dog walkers too. It's also a lot longer than I thought it was going to be so you won't be frustrated by a lack of exercise.

overall nice beach but one has to walk to bally mac Connell to get to nice sandy beach. Too much mess and seaweed around and that stops a decent view and also stroll by oneself or with company - partner or dog!

Anytime we are in or around the Bangor area we enjoy a dander along the beach and the esplanade . . . a lovely calming experience Whatever the weather - hail, rain or shine, the changing colours of the sea and landscape are always stunning. It is of course always at its best when the sun is shining. As is... More

Paddle in the surf along the mile long beach, a long time favourite for families to take a dip and build sandcastles! The mile long crescent of sandy beach curving along the shore of Ballyholme bay is a great favourite sea bathing spot. Nowadays it is used all year round by kite and windsurfers who come from all over Northern... More

Took the visiting American friends here for a walk along the lovely beach. They have nothing like it in Texas and thought it was beautiful. Lots of dog walkers and joggers enjoying the sunny day and making good use of the beach.

Ballyholme Beach continues along to either Groomsport or Bangor Town Centre. It used to be a super place for bathing but few people use in now because of the pollution of the water. It is still a favourite for walkers, dog owners and on a windy day----- surfers. It has good views of Bangor Yatch Club and the opposite Antrim... More

Having moved away from Northern Ireland many years ago I was horrified when I returned to see the beach my children grew up at in the 80's. They played here and swam every summer. It's a real shame to see how filthy it has become. Where I now live it would be unthinkable to let a dog go to the... More
