I love walking on the Nature Reserve with my dog. I find the setting very therapeutic walking over dunes to cliff top walks . I used to walk regularly over the reserve as a youngster as I was brought up in nearby Collieston

Regularly take the dog for a walk here and we absolutely love it. The circuit is about 45-55 minutes long, ample parking, great views at the coast and best of all it's quiet and peaceful. Hackley Bay is a nice added extension to the walk. Would recommend this nature reserve to anyone visiting the area

Called in here the other day and enjoyed a very pleasant walk around the Heath Trail from the Forvie Centre. Well laid out and signed paths. Due to the fairly strong Easterly breeze, not much wildlife on the move though good numbers of common birds - Meadow Pipit, Reed Bunting, Willow Warbler and Lesser Redpoll. Very good, unmanned visitor centre.... More

The Sands of Forvie is a nature reserve north of Newburgh in Aberdeenshire and is the fifth largest sand dune system in Britain, and the least disturbed by human activity. The dune system is an integral part of the Ythan Estuary and separated by the estuary from Balmedie beach. The reserve contains the largest breeding colony of eider duck in... More

Set between the Ythan River and the North Sea the Dune trail (5.5km / 3.4 miles) encompasses everything from river views, birdlife, gorse, abandoned building, roaring waves and an almost alien landscape of the shifting sand dunes. Starting off at the information hide you find out about Newburgh’s ship building past (at one time bigger than Aberdeen), a brief description... More

Enjoyable, informative and fairly easy walk. Pleasant chat with warden, Eider duck, sand martins, seals and wind surfers.

Spent a good couple of hours walking here. Well layer out paths, spectacular dunes and wildlife aplenty and totally unspoiled. Great place for a walk

I spent a wonderful mid April late afternoon in the reserve. The facilities for parking in information boards were excellent. My husband and I enjoyed a peaceful and restorative walk in unspoilt surroundings.
