Went to visit the statue on a day trip to Morcombe Bay. It is one of the most look a like statues I have seen. It is not only the statue but the area in front worth taking a little time to read the sayings and stars that starred with him.

Eric's statue sits in an elevated position in central Morecambe with the promenade and beach immediately behind overlooking the Bay and and Lake district mountains in the distance. I live in Morecambe and whenever you pass Eric's statue there's always someone standing beside him in the same pose for a photo opportunity. The statue looks great lit up at night. Brings a smile on everyone's faces, those of the age that remembers Eric and those younger who are curious.

The statue is beautifully placed on a bank overlooking the sea. To the town side of the statue is an enchanting paved area with lots of lines from Morecambe and Wise. They really made me smile. It seemed like a moment didn't go by without someone coming to have their photo taken with the statue, most people copying Eric's pose. Then as they walked away people would pat the chest of the statue. It seemed to me that everyone has such happy memories and affection for Eric. Almost perfect ..... but they now need to add Little Ern!!

Unveiled by the Queen in 1999, the slightly larger than life-sized statue depicts Eric Morecambe in his most famous pose.
The statue is located in pride of place on the promenade, surrounded by a beautiful garden of flowers. There always seems to be a steady flow of people ready to have their picture taken, often striking the same pose.
If you are wandering why Eric has a pair of binoculars around his neck:- this is because he was a keen ornithologist.

The statue of the great comedian, Eric Morecambe, was unveiled by the Queen in 1999, overlooking the picturesque Morecambe Bay and the Lake District hills. Lots of people were lining up to have their photo taken alongside it. The statue is set in an enclosed garden with impressive lighting effects at night. This is a great photo opportunity and a nice souvenir of this pleasant coastal town in Lancashire, England.

It's iconic Morecambe - it'll bring a smile to your face.

The statue stands above an area with some of the more famous sayings of Eric and Ern. Also there are the names of the many stars that have dared to appear on the Morecambe and Wise show.

Nicely looked after area, people were cleaning the statue today when I visited. The view behind the statue is great and it’s very easy to get a decent picture with the statue. Benches behind the statue to you can sit around and enjoy the view behind. Overall, worth the visit if you’re passing by, wouldn’t travel far just to see it though.

This is a great reminder of one of the greatest British comedians we've ever had. A huge amount of thought went into this design and supporting material based in and around Eric statue.

His classic one liners are etched into the granite. Thens there's the list of famous people who had the privilege of being invited on the Morecambe and Wise show. A lovely tribute to the great man

Sweet dreams Eric you funny fella you...

We visited Morecambe for 2 days during our trip of the north. We’d never seen this statue before, a great tribute to a great comedian. Watched them as a youngster on tv. Well done Morecambe it’s great.
