Had to be Done

We have been through Morecambe a few times and not stopped. But decided to stop today to get the obligatory stature shot.

Great spot for a photo shoot with Morecambe bay and the Lakes in the background. Right on the promenade near the town centre

This is quite possibly the best statue of Eric Morecambe I have ever visited. Theres a nuclear power plant not too far away too, which you can visit providing you apply for security clearance several weeks in advance.

This statue really captures the spirit of the man. Fantastic setting on the promenade with one of England's finest views as it's backdrop. Spent ages reading all Eric's famous lines carved and set into a mosaic. Everyone taking turns to have a photo doing the pose. Well worth visiting.

Fantastic life size statue of the comedian Eric Morecambe. It captures the man perfectly, and he is depicted doing his act finale skipping movement with one hand behind his head. A small area infront of the statue is dedicated to some of Morecambe and Wise's famous comedic sayings, so visitors can pass some time reading the words set into the... More

Well it's Eric, without Ernie for once, the two comedians who I loved the most. I remember first seeing them in the 405 black and white days. They had it then but afterwards what a duo, and they had some wonderful scriptwriters. Christmas shows.... The Statue is in a wonderful spot and the area in front is very complementary to... More

This is a fitting tribute to the great man himself, the statue is to Morecambe promenade as the Little Mermaid of Copenhagen. A must to see when you visit Morecambe, with easy access for wheelchair and other other disability aids the promenade is very flat with a large number of toilet facilities both normal and accessable/disabled. Food, drink and shops pleantyfull... More
