An impressive figure on a mounted horse. Of course Robert means much to the Scots however the UK is chick a block full of statues.

A good photo op , right out front of Sterling Castle.

We just had to stop into bannockburn whilst in the area for the opportunity of standing on one of history's most reknown and impacting battle grounds. Pays tribute to Bruce and tenacity of the Scots against supperior numbers. No doubt the fame of the battle has been enhanced by Mel and his big movie.
Definitely worth a visit.

A magnificent bronze sculpture of our warrior king, Robert the Bruce on his war horse. He is depicted fully armed as a medieval knight, holding his war axe, perhaps even the one he used to kill Henry de Bohun.

The cast bronze equestrian monument, featuring King Robert the Bruce on his war horse carrying an axe is quite large. It was designed by sculptor Charles d'Orville Pilkimgton Jackson in the 1960's. It stands right in front of the Sterling Castle on the right hand side. No charge to view it and has wonderful views right in the area.

We visited 24 8 19 Free car parking in visitor centre and then a short glorious walk up to the monument. Fantastic 1960s round structure with Scottish verse around the sides and Saltire flying in the centre it welcomes you through to the most iconic King of Scotland imposing statue standing high and magesticly seated upon his horse. Visitor centre experience was good and shop was quite cheap compared to some, kids were bit bored with the presentation but liked the outside space.

Stands outside of Stirling Castle and you cannot miss as you walk up to the castle. Appropriate location as it overlooks the Battle field for Scotland's freedom.

This statue of Robert the Bruce is just behind the Battle of Bannockburn experience, so worth to see once you've been to the museum to appreciate it better.

Okay so finding the entrance to the park was a bit tricky. Perhaps we were over thinking it. Once we finally found the entrance it was a short walk to his very beautiful statue.

Very impressive. I would not go to Stirling just to see this - the Stirling Castle is quite rightly the main attraction (with the Wallace Monument an important second). But if you are nearby, you might want to stop briefly to view this.
