Visited with friends shortly after the opening. Museum is well laid out to display the pictures of local artists and a couple of pictures were just like scenes from our childhood. We are getting old! Recommended.

We had the fortune to see a wonderful selection of paintings created by former miners from the local pits. There are stewards available to discuss the art, their background and answer any questions. The gallery is sympathetic, has excellent lighting and is airy and spacious....More

Stopped here on way home following a weekend in Durham. Well worth a visit. Exhibition very moving. Guides excellent. Some of the exhibits are voiced by miners themselves.

I first visited the gallery last year within days of it's opening. Some paintings have been added. Listen to the audio by a Bevan boy. It's a very atmospheric setting and as you walk around you feel some of what the miners had to cope...More
