First I just want to say that we did in fact enjoy our stay here... the location is right by the beach and we had walks along the beach to a lovely forest, the staff seemed pleasant and its a short drive from southport pier. Unfortunately though a lot of the negative reviews on here are quite accurate, the whole site is completely run down and there is nothing to do with the exception of the arcade, mini golf and swimming... all of which are run down and boring. The site looks terrible with all the playgrounds closed and unkept areas. We arrived on a Monday and check in was simple, just waited 5 mins in a queue at reception and off on a hunt for our chalet, there are around 1000 chalets and it really does look like a council estate. I have to admit I walked into our chalet with the broken sanitised sticker and cleaning products in hand only to be pleasantly surprised. The apartment had definitely been cleaned to some standard and we think we got quite lucky. The apartment looked old and dated, kettle did not work (they quickly gave us a new one) and the floors are actually quite filthy. After I had cleaned it for a second time and layered the blankets over the beds it felt quite comfortable for a base to our holiday. There is NO reliable Internet or phone signal on this site which was our biggest problem. In my honest opinion as someone who is quite easily pleased, I will not be returning to pontins as there is simply nothing to do there and it is too run down to enjoy. Having booked through the sun and only paying £50 for the holiday I really cannot complain about our experience. Tip. If you haven't booked yet - Do not go, find somewhere else there was a nice caravan site just down the road. If you have booked, be prepared for life on a council estate with kids running around and drunk people loud at night. (Didn't bother me much because our kids made friends with our lovely neighbours and played on the grassy areas which was nice) Chalets are what you would expect and perfectly acceptable for the price you pay.

Just got back from our first and last trip to HMP Pontins (southport),check-in was a joke it took 4 laps of the concrete jungle and 30 minutes to find our cell block,on entry we found a not only dated but dirty cell,£15 in cleaning products and an hour later we dumped our bags and went for a walk to find half the emenities either broken or closed.the first night we spent mainly listening to large groups of drunks arguing until the early hours.we spent our last 2 days in southport and that is a beautiful town.

We arrived with 25 deg bright sunshine little knowing what was in store the commandant at the entrance didnt understand social distancing and nearly invited himself into our car. After waiting an hour for check in we were handed our beautiful polyester sheets & the keys to our chalet . Upon entering the patio door were filthy & paint etc peeling off the1 canopy above it became apparent we had travelled back in time to previous decades as the tv ,appliances & decor were very dated outside there were kids digging tunnels tom dick & harry to escape the compound already. the shower has a 30 second press & it needs 2 be reset just as the shampoo hits ur eyes .most of site is closed due to covid with the pedal karts the only mode of transport as the kids tried 2 find a break I the barbed wire 2 escape. The tables in the bar area outside were covered in half finished drinks with only one cleaner 2 clean the whole "entertainment" (loosely named )area shocking in this day & age . Night time entertainment was Disney films .the restaurant was another experience it's all takeaway with something & chips being the menu .people walking about inside everywhere without masks on . The only time you saw security was if anyone dared 2 play some music to entertain themselves which a group of women of travelling origin if that's PC persisted in trying to dance on tables which produced a lot of security men shaking their heads & moving them outside 2 take over the outside benches & then told 2 turn it down .meanwhile the tables fill with plastic cups . U cam say u get what u pay for but this takes the biscuit luckily one of the kids tunnels broke thru the compound wall & we escaped 4 days early never 2 return even if it was getting flattened

you should let the army practice bomb procedures on it. a few tips for pontins wipe your feet on the way out of the room and keep your shoe tight coz youll lose them on the floor its that sticky , be sure to book an emergency appointment with your doctor as well as your shrink , dont go in the pool you would be better in shrecks swamp and especially dont go in the pool if the little scouse kid is there because you would be eating crap and beware the the mascot hes bit of a crack head he will try and touch u up
