The model railway is huge! Don’t go in expecting to recognise all the models though, they span across many decades and there is everything from TV to film to iconic locations to not so iconic locations. A lovely setting. I will admit the price was expensive given we were entertained for less than 45 minutes but I can understand why as the models are incredible, the gardens must take some serious maintenance and the models do need updating as things change in the world. I was happy to contribute towards the upkeep and we had a nice time browsing.

A slightly hidden tranquil spot, with a fantastic large scale model railway meandering around pristine open air spaces. You are welcomed at the entrance by very friendly staff and offered a paper quiz and pen, which is great to do and draws your attention to things you may miss on your walk around. At the time of our visit there where four or five freight and passenger trains running around the tracks. The layout is full of scaled villages, shops, fire station, church, railway station, etc etc, the attention to detail is a real credit to the owners. You can stop on your way round and sit on many benches located around the track and relax, take a picnic etc.
Although the small cafe is closed at the moment, you can obtain hot and cold drinks from the office. There is a nice spacious open air table and chairs seating area and clean toilet facilities, including disabled.
We can highly recommend Southport model railway village, we visit it every time we visit Southport and always enjoy. Suitable for all ages, you do not have to be a railway fanatic. It is also good value for money, with concessions for children and seniors.

The village is set around a small gauge railway system. The layout is well organised and maintained. My granddaughter loved answering the questions on the sheet given to her when we entered the site and counting all the fairies around the set out. Loverly time thank you

I hadn't visited since I was a child so 20 years later decided to come back. It was a really good experience and certainly different to anything else in the area however I do think the pricing is a bit steep - hence the 4/5 rating. £5.50 per adult for an activity which takes about 15 mins seemed abit much. I was hoping for something bigger really. There is a small cafe and benches dotted around if you wanted to drag it out a little. However the trains were enjoyable to watch and I loved the idea of the little quiz given to children to occupy them along the way!

This was a great day out in the sunshine. Quiz sheets on the way round kept us all interested. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Lived in Southport for 40 years and never visited so decided to take my Grandchildren age 2,10,11. Family ticket cost £18 so was hoping it would entertain them for a few hours. It took 20 minutes to walk round, fortunately we had a quiz to do. With a stop for a picnic we were able to stretch it to 2hours. Nothing interactive & children told to keep off the grass. Plenty of seating & plenty of trains to see. It lacks any real entertainment it feels like your looking at a train enthusiasts private collection.
Children love to touch & play with things. A model house to touch or being able to position the cars would be great.
Done it now but sadly wouldn't go back too expensive for such a brief experience.
