A little gem
Sep 2021
This is a small property tucked away in an alley, but it is excellent and really interesting.
The history of the house is bound up with the development of Tenby and so there is much more to this than just the building.
The visit included a guided tour which was very informative and captured your intereest.
Also engaging was the small herb garden to the rear. A ral triumph in termns of growing a wide variety of plants in a very small area.
Numbers are limited, so you need to book ahead.

Delightful!!

A small building but a big welcome as the receptionist explains its use while climb up and down the stairs in the heat. The highlight was the garden where a volunteer showed her infectious enthusiasm for period plants. A lot of fun

A little gem
Jun 2021
I don't understand people giving this house a terrible rating. When they saw the outside how big were they expecting it to be???

This house is an absolute gem. It isn't the life of the absolute toffs but the ordinary wealthy who lived and worked on Britain's streets. This isn't a stately home it is a merchant's town house- take time to engage with its stories about life and ask questions of the informative and knowledgeable staff/volunteers, get to know how life was for the 'middling sort' and what the merchants were exporting and importing into Tenby. I was in there 45 minutes.

This isn't a museum, the replica furniture and decoration show you how it would have looked for those living in it 500 years ago when it was new, bright and colourful. The one and most important museum piece is the house itself. Really well presented and interesting reconstruction of the inside of what a house like this would have looked like, no black and white!

I enjoyed delving into this building's stories immensely.

The food is always central to this experience. However the setting is also very special. Fabulous every time I go there.

I wasn’t able to visit this year due to Covid 19 but when I visited last year I loved it! Had soo much fun and looking and learning about the way people use to live! I also learnt new games! The lady’s working that day was very helpful and told us new facts!

A very interesting visit. Amazing old house belonging to the local Merchant bought to life. An insight into the daily life of a family in 1500. Interesting stories told by the staff.

Lots of information and staff were excellent in explaining the history of this house. Great for kids as they can actually touch things and sit down.
