Interesting Harbour
Sep 2021
Full of character, interesting shops, plenty of eateries and interesting coastline to walk round. Can sit on the beach in the harbour when the tide is out

Couldnt get out quick enough
Sep 2021 • Couples
I walked to the harbour after ordering a takeaway in the High street. At a loss for words really at the levels of deprivation here. Absolutely filthy with litter everywhere. Drunk locals staggering around all in need of a good wash. I have been in some rough areas in my life( I used to live in Sheerness) but I have never felt so uncomfortable anywhere. Astounding really when you think that Ilfracombe is supposedly in an AONB. Avoid like the plague and take your custom elsewhere on this beautiful coastline

Sad
Sep 2021
This area of the town is about the best of a bad lot I'm afraid. The town is feeling very unloved with no upkeep going on at all. The high street is not a place to go - so rundown. The harbour is pretty but wouldn't want to stay any length of time there.

Doto Train - give it a miss!
Sep 2021 • Couples
Don’t bother with the Dotto Train! Ten minutes of town centre roads, no views, no commentary. I’m left wondering what is the purpose of this ride? Not worth £5 a head

Run down Ilfracombe
Sep 2021 • Couples
Just spent a very long 90 minutes in Ilfracombe, what a run down town it is. Found absolutely nothing of any note, kept thinking any minute now it will improve but no. Nothing but grab looking pubs, fudge shops and dodgy looking b&b's. Was looking forward to seeing it during our visit to Devon but couldn't wait to get out. Went to Woolacombe which is much more vibrante, better choice of food and of course the beach is fantastic.

Visit
Sep 2021 • Couples
Visited whilst on holiday in Woolacombe, could not have been more disappointed. Ilfracombe is a tired and run down victorian holiday resort, didn't even stay 2 hours. Not a patch on Lynton and Lynmouth, Croyde or Woolacombe..needs some serious investment.

Lovely place to visit. so much to see and do when the tide is in or out. Cruises operate from the pier and my personal favourite is The Ilfracombe Princess

Lovely place to explore. Lots to see and do, shops to visit, boats to see, places to sit etc. Worth a walk to see it. Cheap parking also.

Lots to do
Aug 2021 • Couples
Expected to stay only a few hours but ended up spending two days there. We were staying at the John Fowler site down the road in Combe Martin. Forget Combe Martin unless you like the large rocky beach and canoeing. Much more to do at Ilfracome. Beautiful walks around the harbour and sea front, chapel on top of the hill, tunnels beaches, plenty of places to eat and drink, several beaches to sit on if weather hot, and plenty of parking available (£6 all day on sea front). Also try the coastal walks to Lee beaches and Combe Martin. Stunning especially Broadsands beach. You can always get a bus back if you fancy walking one-way. Several a day to and from Combes Martin and buses on two days per week to and from Lee beaches.
