We (my husband, 15yo son & I) just had a fantastic experience on a 2hr dolphin watching trip with Sea Safari (Ilfracombe). From the start all the staff & crew were friendly, polite & helpful.
We obviously realised that there was no guarantee that we would see dolphins but within minutes of leaving the harbour, the skipper managed to find a pod of about 10 dolphins. They swam with the boat & played in the surf for a long period. From then on, we found groups of dolphin all round the stunning North Devon coastline.
The staff were knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive & were really keen to ensure the passengers were happy & enjoying the trip. They were happy for our black labrador to join us on the trip, who also loved seeing the dolphins & was v tempted to jump in the water & become part of the attraction!
Even if we hadn’t had seen any dolphins, the scenery was beautiful and it was a lovely way to spend 2hrs at sea in the evening after a very warm summer’s day.
I definitely recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys seeing wildlife & beautiful scenery. It far exceeded our expectations! Access to the boat was down some harbour steps, but staff were on hand to help if needs be.
Thank you very much!

Absolutely perfect! From the first email contact to the trips, everything was superb. We booked a 'snorkel with the seals at Lundy Island' trip and we booked the 'Lundy Shuttle' trip with Ilfracombe Sea Safari. We did a lot of dive/snorkel/boat trips all around the world and this company stands out for the well organisation and safe and good run trips.
All our questions (and I had a lot!) were promptly and friendly answered by them.
The snorkel with the seals trip was absolutely amazing! If you do not have your own gear, they can provide you with very good wetsuits. The boat only takes a maximum of 12 people, so a nice small group. We went for this trip on the slightly bigger motor catamaran. Clean, all safety equipment on board, super helpful crew, toilet available. And lovely hot drinks and cake provided, to warm up after being in sea. Snorkelling with the seals is INCREDIBLE. They are cute and curious. They will come to you, to check you out, nibble on your fins, blow bubbles in your face. A once in a lifetime experience! Very recommended to do so and to do so with this company. If you are prone to sea sickness, just take a tablet as a precaution, as the sea here can be a bit choppy and you spent quite some time on the boat.
We also used Ilfracombe Sea Safari for a day trip to Lundy Island. This shuttle service is done by a fast boat, a RIB. Absolutely lovely to be on and very fast, you will be on Lundy in an hour. Much quicker and far more comfortable than taking the MS Oldenburg to Lundy. Moreover, with the Oldenburg you will only have few hours on the island, whereas with this company you will get 8 hours to explore Lundy. So definitely worth paying more than for the Oldenburg. Again we had a clean and modern boat, friendly and experienced crew, all safety precautions taken.
Both trips and this company very much recommended!

Our family of five (mum, dad, three boys 7,5,3) all piled aboard the speedboat for a one hour wildlife tour. It was great fun. The two lads running it were no great academic authority but they were great value, bringing some local knowledge and banter into their stories. It all ended off with 'donughts' in teh harbour which, obviously, was the highlight.
The guides were very quick to spot Gannets which they then correct used to find the porpoises.
Overall, a great family highlight and would recommend it. Very safe, very fun, very family friendly.

Awesome run out on the rib with Aimee & Ross.

Trip out with 4 adults and a 14yr old, really interesting combination of geology with interesting rock strata, silver mines and hidden beaches.

Spotted a group of Gannets diving which then meant we saw a few Porpoises!!

High speed blast on the way back with some exciting turns and loops.

Great narration from the crew, totally recommend this to anyone, not the cheapest, but definitely worth the money!!

Totally recommend this trip.

We booked a 2.5 hour seals, caves and lighthouse trip with a family of 9 ages 11-adult. On arrival we were organised into our group with one other family of 3 and escorted onto the rib. I was a little worried at first that the kids would get bored in the 2.5 hrs but I needn’t have worried, the time went really quickly as the trip was really fun and exhilarating. Our guides were the first female crew of Sophie and Amie and they were simply fantastic. The safety brief was good and all felt very secure despite quite choppy water. They were knowledgeable and able to locate a pod of porpoise quite quickly following the gannets. I have been on many boat trips on holiday but this was simply the best. We returned in a south west wind and the waves were big but we felt safe throughout, the kids had the most amazing fun and it was such a wonderful way to end the holiday. Well worth the money would definitely book again.

We went on the 1.5 hour sunset trip today and loved it. Amy & Mark were brilliant and we saw great wildlife, sunset & parts of the coast from completely new angles. Loved the speed bits too. A very belated birthday present but well worth it.

We had the best time on our sea safari!! We spent 30 mins with 15+ dolphins that swam and and under/alongside our boat. The skipper expertly navigated the boat amongst the dolphins, and afterwards sped along the coast, much to everyone's excitement. The star of the show though was Dylan (the host with most) who was an oracle; he knew everything about the wildlife, the geography, and the history of the area, and he shared this with us in a fun and chilled out way. Great trip, thanks Dylan, and ilfracombe Sea Safari !!!

We went on the hour trip to see the seals and were lucky enough to see the porpoise too that made the trip even more special. We had Jess and Sophie doing our trip and they were both brilliant with lots of information and chatting to the children. The man we booked the trip with was very helpful and didn’t oversell which is always better than when they pressure you to book or to book the most expensive trip. If you are in the area on holiday and thinking of booking do it! It really is a nice well organised trip and lovely staff.

We travelled on the Lundy Explorer today hosted by Mark & Jacob. Despite the weather, we had the most amazing trip - more so than we had anticipated actually! We were struggling to find somewhere to park (loads of parking nearby but naturally very busy) We called and spoke to a member of staff, although we didn’t catch her name, who really kindly gave us the time to get there so we didn’t miss the boat! Thank you so much for that ☺️ We boarded with the rest of the group and was helped across by staff, who were all so lovely. As we set off, we stopped at various different places and Jacob gave us the history and information on each area. The views were incredible from the water! Both Jacob and Mark took the time to chat with all of us, and answer any questions anyone had. We reached some good speeds and bouncing over the waves was such a thrill! The children on board were ecstatic! Mark took us for a couple of extra spins, I’ve personally never done anything like it and it really was an experience I’ll never forget. As I said, we had so much more fun than we expected - only made better by our incredible hosts, Jacob & Mark! Thank you so much for the trip guys, you’re all stars! ⭐️

Visiting relatives in the area we thought it would be a good opportunity to meet up and do something different - so we booked an hour and a half trip along the rugged North Devon coastline. The weather was shocking but being prepared, we had our waterproofs at the ready and it didn't dampen the experience at all - and the young lad providing snippets of information along the way made us laugh with his dry observations. Pity we didn't see any wildlife (jelly fish don't count) but a cracking way to pass an hour or two in a clean and safe environment that was professionally organised and pretty good value for money. Would definitely do again and would try and do it on a dry day next time! Good work!
