Initial booking online was not as simple a process as you would hope but we made it in the end after a couple of attempts. We travelled on the first day of our new “freedoms” and the weather made it a great choice to take a two hour sea excursion. There were around 60 on board a boat designed for 100 so there was space to move , and everybody felt it sensible to forgo the masks as we were outside. Top tip is to be near the front of the Q as then you get to choose the higher “Bridge Deck” with better viewing opportunity. We were not that organised so sat at the stern which was OK but meant we had the engine noise which made the commentary difficult to hear. Shame, as what we heard was excellent, as the skipper was knowledgeable and very informative. He also displayed great seamanship skills as he navigated us into some coastal bays so that we got up really close and personal to some outstanding scenery. At £20 a head we thought it a bit pricey but we had great value for money , and it was kind of refreshing not to have the “skippers hat” routine at the end of the voyage. Actually, talking of the end, as we came back in to Ilfracombe Harbour we hove to just off Verity and had superb views of her looking up. Our skipper talked about her at length and pointed out aspects of her that we otherwise might not have known. That of itself would have made the voyage but it was a lovely thing to do and highly recommended as a holiday “must do”

We booked a tour on the Ilfracombe Princess on a whim after seeing the booking kiosk at the Harbour.
It was £20 per adult, but we felt that this was worth the money as we lucked out with the weather and the Captain was really knowledgeable about the local area. He was also good humoured and engaging despite having probably given the tour a hundred and odd times! You are shown the beautiful coast line, told some interesting tales and may even see a couple of seals if they're in an obliging mood.
They also allow dogs, which is a nice touch if you decide to go last minute.

This boat was recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint! We booked the tickets the day before in case it was busy as the weather was glorious, also due to the pandemic they are only taking 40 passengers which is great for the customers, instead of the usual maximum of 100. Everyone sat spaced out comfortably and the crew came around with hand sanitiser before we set off. The trip was well organised, incredibly scenic and the captain gave an informative commentary and we even saw the seals basking on the rocks in the sunshine! It was a wonderful trip and a lovely way to spend the afternoon enjoying the local Devon coastline. Highly recommend!

Social distancing non existent ( see photo). Counted 50 passengers plus crew, packed in like sardines. A quick wipe down of seats between trips. Person in charged touched every person on and every person off.

We do not appreciate your damaging review on our business. We have reduced capacity by 40%. You will see that non of the seats facing other passengers are in use. Risk assessments have been carried out on all aspects of our operations. We have carried over 2500 passengers in just over 2 weeks and we have only had positive feedback to our COVID policies. We are trying our upmost to keep our business running during these very difficult times. This is very damaging, shame on you for your actions here. were you even a passenger? I suspect not, otherwise you would have experienced first hand our new safety measures.

This was our second time on the princess and equally as good as the first. The staff do their best to make it really interesting and enjoyable, taking the time to show you as much as possible. Can't wait for another trip in 2020.

It was a lovely experience from start to finish. We booked for a cruise online earlier in the day, and the people at the kiosk were very friendly when booking us in and directing us to where we board the boat

The drivers of the boat were very friendly and knowledgable about the area and it's history throughout the cruise. They were very happy to recommend places to visit for those that might still be needing plans during their holiday

During boarding and disembarking from the boat, they were very helpful with carrying items down the stairs for passengers (i.e pushchairs) and they made sure everyone got on and off safely, especially with an uneven step and checking everyone maneuvered it safely

The whole experience had a very relaxed feel about it and it was definitely worth adding into the holiday itinerary after not doing it last time we were in the area

Stumbled across the princess this morning and decided to take a ride! Me and my wife (and our dog!) had a great time seeing the beautiful scenery and all the small towns, wildlife and waterfalls along the coast. Jack the assistant was enthusiastic and entertaining from start to finish. Taking photos for us and even helping out with local knowledge. Paul the skipper also did well in making it a personal experience with a well refined tour pointing out the natural features and beauty that can only be seen by boat.

Thanks a lot guys !

Me and my 3 boys went on the 1 hour cruise ( there are also 1.5 and 2 hour cruises), which went up the Channel towards Combe Martin. The skipper gave a great talk on the caves and the villages we passed, and stopped so that we could see the porpoises. The boys loved it. We had to wear masks whilst queuing and on board, and the boat was kept nice and clean

Booked onto the Evening Drinks Cruise at 6:15 and checked in at the kiosk at 5:35. We asked when we would be boarding and were told in the next 10 minutes to be on the harbour side. We were going to pop for a quick drink before boarding but didn’t bother due to timing. When we did get to the harbour side, it was very confusing and a bit of an unorganised nightmare. It was difficult to tell who was going on which boat trip and when staff were eventually around, no one interacted or guided you. We eventually started boarding at 18:10 and the staff were quite blasé that we had been stood around waiting in the blazing heat. When we did get on the boat, it was very relaxed and we eventually ended up going out the east. Would have been nice to know what we would see when out there, landmarks, beaches etc. Music was nice in the background, drinks reasonably priced (be prepared for a warm free drink) and it was a beautiful evening for a boat trip. Just wish the staff were more attentive at the beginning and on the boat.

We very much enjoyed our trip to see the seals and dolphins. Knew that there was a chance we wouldn’t see them (wildlife obviously unpredictable!) but the skipper had been in contact with another boat who had a dolphin sighting so he tweaked the route to ensure we could see them and we weren’t disappointed! Then saw the seals on the rocks too. Good commentary and info given. Dog friendly. We went out on the 9am boat which wasn’t completely full and felt spacious and pleasant. Also avoided the stress of parking midday in a busy Ilfracombe. Recommend 👍🏻
