Day out at the castle

The puppets become a little repetitive and creepy. Too many slot machines seeking more money input. The change machines kept short changing us, keeping back 20% of the change due which left a sour note with us. Nobody likes bring ripped off expecially after paying to get in and then feeling obliged keep paying for slot machines and games which... More

We arrived at the castle about 10.30 and although the car park was busy there were no queues to get in. Once inside the castle it was like a yesterday's world. All old appliances on show plus slot machines that I remember as a child 60 plus years ago and all working and been modified to take present day coins.... More

We visited with our 21 month old. It is a very weird place, but, once you get used to it, it is good fun! There are several rides for very young children where parents can also join them. The garden is lovely and a great place to chill out. You CAN take your pushchair around the place despite it being... More

Nice day out with the family. I said to the other half I find this place really strange and random with loads of different types of things to do, if I wasn't being fussy maybe you could say it's 'unique' .. If you're a group of teens I wouldn't bother goung but for younger children it has a few old... More

3 adults and 2 children (9 and 4) We loved this place. The castle is set out beautifully. it was a real treat exploring all the old rooms, before heading down to the dungeons. The gardens were immaculate and the gnome area proved interesting for the kids. The rides were good too, and on the whole the queues were short... More

We stayed at the castle for a week and went in a couple of times. The inside is a tad weird with odd puppets and models but outside is very pleasant. Lots of rides for under 10s, things to see and 2p slots!!!! The grounds are lovely so on a beautiful day the kids can run around and are very... More

This was a very disappointing day out for us with our girls (age 2 and 6). We chose going to Watermouth Castle over The Big Sheep and spent (half) a day regretting it. As other reviewers have said there is no real 'castle' as such but a succession of rooms which were too crowded for the children to be able... More

Good day out nice and a place to visit. Entry queue entertainer was very funny. It is good for young children. Some really good old fashioned slot machines. The new toboggan is good but the quese are huge.

Nothing in the promotional material, or the reviews I'd read, prepared me for the strange world of Watermouth Theme Park. It is a Victorian stately home built to resemble a castle, with grounds, gardens, rides and attractions. To be fair, the blurb promises a 'unique and magical' experience - but don't they all? The strangeness begins when you realise there... More
