We stayed at Fuschia cottage during the May half term with our 2 children aged 5 and 2. The cottage was beautiful and incredibly clean. Everything was included with a washing machine, iron, all the utensils, necessary convinienes. I was actually was suprised how large the cottage was as the photos perhaps do not do this justice. The front room had... More

A lovely morning spent here. The guided tour followed by tea and cake in the café and a stroll in the garden. The guide was a lovely, vibrant lady whose knowledge and enthusiasm were spellbinding. My son and I both smelled the presence of the Victorian girl...he was thrilled! Well worth a visit. I almost forgot to mention the lovely gentleman... More

We were told about this place by the lady from our B&B who had visited recently. The Manor is very interesting and our guide Leslie was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Photography is allowed, with flash if necessary and visitors are allowed to touch some of the stuff there and try the chairs that are not roped. There are lovely grounds... More

Recommended to us as worth a visit. About 40 minutes walk from our hotel and up a steep hill, so go by car if walking not your thing! A charming Manor House renowned for its ghostly events. Original furnishings and a very interesting history. The guided tours are a must but are not every day. A very knowledgable guide who... More

A very old property said to be haunted! I am very sceptical about these things - but one of my cameras would not work in the house! Pleasant guides with lots of knowledge. A nice tea room. The house is not well signed from the main road in Ilfracombe.

Four locals looking for an afternoon out. We decided upon Chambercombe Manor, as to our shame two of us have not visited before and the other two had but so long ago they could not remember when it was. We enjoyed a cream tea and noted that other customers enjoyed whatever they were eating - assumed by all of the... More

Enjoyed 5 night stay at rose cottage. Cottage had everything needed for catering, in a lovely location. Only downside was lack of secure parking.

Chambercombe sits in a beautiful valley on the edge of Ilfracombe with small, but pleasant grounds round which to stroll. On balance, it was worth having the £9 guided tour (rather than the slightly cheaper d-i-y), though the woman conducting the tour, whilst pleasant and clearly very knowledgable, gave the appearance of reading a script. The house is full of... More

I take the supernatural/ghost stories with a pinch of salt - but all said and done we were greeted by VERY friendly folk and enjoyed our wander about a most historic property. Grounds nice. We did not eat at the café so cannot comment there. £5 admission 'without tour' a fair price (we had our baby daughter with us so... More
