What is going wrong in Sandown? The main street is a disgrace and although the pier interior amenities are unexceptional, they are a cut above the town's low standard. Does all food still have to be fried, or smell like it has been fried? Move on to Shanklin (no pier) or almost anywhere else on the island as soon as you can.

Being regular visitors to the IOW every year, we always pay a visit to Scruffy Jacks Bar in the pier. The bar staff are very welcoming and friendly, so much so that we have become friends with them. A nice clean place with entertainment facilities for children in the main hall. A nice sea-view from your seat or you can watch the match or use the bandit machines/play bowls/etc. The pier in Sandown is a whole days fun in one. We visit there every year and will be again this year. I highly recommend a visit to Scruffy Jacks if not already done so.

Good selection of amusements and game machines etc. Walk to end of pier was good, kids loved helta skelta. Lovely donuts on way back, good fun for a couple of hours. Needs regular cleaning though, as place was rather grubby in certain areas.

really enjoyed the crazy golf, hasn't changed in many years. Used to take my son there as a child.
Good to see some of the pier has been updated. But was a bit shocked at the price of a bootle of soft drink at the kiosk half way down the pier

Went to Sandown Pier again, very disappointing.
Many of the arcade slot machines are faulty, many of them you put your money in and it disappears without getting a go.
Many of the change machines are not working.
I have been to many arcades around the country and I have to say
Sandown Pier is the worst arcade.
Not worth visiting.
End of pier is closed off so you can not go outside on the Pier.
Badly run.

Parked up in a hour slot, which to be honest was plenty of time. The pier was typical with a bar, amusements, cafe and dodgems. The pier itself seemed well maintained compared to some dodgy structures I have visited. The amusements lacked variety with loads of the same 2p slide em machines with the chap regularly coming round and moving the prizes back so you had no chance of winning anything. There is a crazy golf area and some bowlingo alleys. Didn't visit the toilets so cannot comment.
Sandown itself is a shadow of its former self with lots of run down, derelict and burnt out buildings on what looked to me like prime real estate over looking the sea. No idea what is going on or not as the case seems, but we were lucky to be staying on the other side of the island and an hour there was more than enough for us. This is coming from someone who usually loves the traditional British seaside experience.

Spent a bit if time here as it was raining. The pier has the usual slot machines which were well maintained. There is a handy cafe but no internet signal. Shame that they charge you for the toilets. There is a bowling alley but it could not accommodate our double buggy!

What a terrible place Sandown is. I imagine once it was a thriving gentile seaside town. But now just a long empty high street - - no one there and empty shops - this was in early September - can’t imagine it in February ?!! Awful derelict hotels on seafront and hight street. Lovely beach but that’s just about the only positive and the dog couldn’t go in till end of September ! We didn’t bother walking to the other end where the dog could go on beach - just wanted to get out of there !

Was nice to have a wander to end of pier but overall it seemed tired and grubby.
Prices on A board outside for food were quite misleading as they didn't match what was being charged by inside.
Parking was dire.
Nice to have walked on pier but wouldn't have missed it if we hadn't.

I wouldn't have thought so as I cannot remember seeing any areas where the general public could "land" a boat on the pier.
