Decent Wetherspoons
Sep 2020 • Couples
Had 4 days in Whitley bay with my wife and called in here each day. Good service and the covid rules were being fairly well followed. Our round was a double gin and tonic and a pint of strongbow which came to just over £6. Had a meal on the curry night. 2 curries, double gin and tonic and a pint of strongbow for £15. Great value for money.

Family day out
Jun 2019
My family and myself visit every week, It is getting difficult to eat without getting your air freshener out. Some of the patrons that sit there every day do not wash, the seats are disgusting basically stink to high heaven. It's a shame that a few have to spoil the many people that visit. It is a popular place and if your pushed for cash you can eat a special deal with a drink including alcohol for under seven pounds.

Day out.
Mar 2019 • Couples
Called in for a drink as we were on a day out, we found the staff very friendly and polite , we decided to have some lunch we did not wait long for this it was hot and really enjoyable. the staff came and asked us if everything was alright and hoped we enjoyed it which we did very polite staff, the staff are a credit to this place, as we were in the one in newcastle Mile castle in the morning for breakfast the staff there could learn a thing or two from the fire station.

Always running out!
Mar 2019 • Couples
Been here twice over the past year. First time came for a bit to eat on a Tuesday afternoon (Steak day) to be told that they had ran out of steaks because they did not order enough! Went there again this month, asked for an ale..run out, asked for a different ale, you guessed it ran out! What a waste of time. Manager needs to get his act together.

A little tired
Jan 2019 • Solo
Tucked away on the front street, in need of a lick of paint in places & a general tidy up, bit of an odour hanging in the bar on Sat 26th too, pleasant enough staff & plenty of tables, always busy, many familiar faces if you return, so clearly a regular haunt for locals (would be with the reasonable prices), well presented outside seating area for those who are smokers or out under the pretence of walking the dog! 🤔

The only Wetherspoons to serve a hot breakfast in the Newcastle area.
Dec 2018 • Couples
My husband and I are regular visitors to the Fire Station, we live in wallsend where our local Wetherspoons is the Ritz, sadly we find the food at the Ritz to be below standard when it comes to hot food, they once served my husband one of the coldest breakfasts ever and were rather taken back when he asked for a full refund.

Since that day we have always used the Fire Station at Whitley bay, where we find the kitchen staff take extra pride in serving their customers food hot enough to enjoy, be it a panini and chips shared or sausage sandwiches we have not been disappointed yet by being served cold food.

Today the 22nd of December we opted for a regular breakfast and a sausage sandwich and when our food came to the table my husband declared his breakfast one of the hottest meals he has had in a Wetherspoons pub, the plate was also hot which is how hot food should be served. Well Done The Kitchen Staff

Whilst the Fire Station May not be one of the newest Wetherspoons pubs as far as my husband and I are concerned it’s one of the best in the chain for its hot food dishes and it will get our custom even if we have to travel to from Wallsend.

Needs a revamp
Dec 2018 • Friends
The Fire Station looks worn and tired. It's a Wetherspoons so you know what you get. Cheap and cheerful. Nowt flashy. Basic cheap food which is alright if you want quick. Cheap beer which is usually served with a large head. Staff are disinterested. One member of staff spent a while telling a customer how she was leaving soon and where she was going to work afterwards.
Still worth a visit if you don't want posh!!

The Fire Station
Dec 2018 • Solo
Having yourself two all day brunches shoved onto one plate and a coffee refill after a hard day’s Friday’s graft, not a problem at all at The Fire Station in Whitley Bay, all in a day’s work.

I found the staff I engaged with to be extremely pleasant, polite, friendly and good craic too.

Top marks on customer service considering some of the punters I saw the staff having to deal with to be pretty ‘testing’ and a tad ‘rude’ to say the least.

My food order arrived at table 42 pretty promptly after I’d ordered at the bar and was piping hot on arrival and very tasty and filling.

The Fire Station is a decent enough Wetherspoons, I’d go far as to say it’s much better than average and I’m more than happy enough to recommend this bar.
