Popped in on the recommendation of The Dog & Rabbit, as purchased T-shirt with their name and 2 other pub names. Told that these are known as the Bermuda Triangle, so had to give it a go. Didn’t disappoint. Friendly welcome and the girl serving even held my dog whilst I went to the toilet. Asked what she’d suggest to try and I mentioned I like porters and stouts. Recommended the milk stout which was sensational. I even bought a litre to take home 👌 Get involved people.

We have been regulars in Nord since they opened and the place just keeps getting better and better.
The owners, Nick and Gemma, are knowledgeable and passionate about beer and spend so much time making sure they source the best independent beer from the UK and abroad. They are always on hand to offer advice about the extensive range of beer depending on what taste and flavours you prefer.
As for the beer you can tell they take absolute pride in their stock - there is no place in the region with fresher taps - they are the only bottle shop with 100% refrigerated beer and it really does show. The taps, cans and bottles change at least weekly (quite often daily) which means there is always something new to find.
A wise man once said that imitation is the best form of flattery - and watching the new bars/pubs in the area you can see they want a slice of the pie, but the reality is that their beer will not be able to compete with the quality offered by Nord - I’m a true believer in quality over quantity and know I’m lucky to have Nord on my doorstop.
Great owners, great knowledge, great service, great beer. The equation doesn’t get much simpler. Keep up it up Nick and Gemma 🍺

This place is fantastic! 5 taps which change very regularly to drink in or take a bottle of draft beer home. There's also a huge range of cans and bottles in the fridges. The owners are really friendly. So lucky to have a fantastic independent place like this so close to home.

Absolutely fantastic place and a must visit for beer lovers. Owners (Nick & Gemma) do a fab job of running Nord - Superb choice of beers on draft & in fridges which are updated regularly, cosy setting & you always feel welcome every time you walk in.
With a 7 yr old lad and working away from home, I don't get out enough to use it as a bar regularly but it's my 1st choice as a bottle shop. I'd definitely recommend the 1L Growler or 2L Howler take home options for beer!!
I've also attended one of the awesome beer tasting/talk sessions too.

We have been here about half a dozen times now. They have a great selection of beers from various breweries. The selection is constantly changing and they have all been good beers. The staff are helpful and can offer advice if you need it. There are two small seating areas if you want to drink on the premises

Our first visit to Nord was on the day they opened. despite the hectic run up to opening day, they had everything in place.
This venture is one which is becoming more popular around the country, mainly in the South East, but it still works here in the North East too.
The basis of the business is that it is a bottle shop selling mainly 'craft' beers, but it also has a 'Tap' section with a range of beers on tap.
It isn't designed as 'a pub' where you would go and meet a load of friends and spend the whole evening, but more as a stop off where you can get a beer either from the fridge or from the tap, sit and drink it or share a couple of bottles between friends so you all know what they taste like and then you know what you are going to buy to take away.
Mine Hosts are Gemma and Nick who have a fair bit of Pub experience between them and know about beer.
Definitely worth a visit!

Met up with my partner and her family. Always a great place to visit! More beer than you could possibly choose from, a few on draught and many in cans and bottles. Would well recommend to anyone.

Nord is a bottle shop and small bar selling a range of bottled and cask craft beers.
If you are looking to buy a few bottles to take away, then it is ideal.
There is limited seating and I'd describe the decor and ambience of more like a "beer cafe" than a pub. As such, as I prefer traditional pubs, Nord is fine as a takeaway or for a casual beer, but it isn't the sort of place I'd settle into for a cosy session.
Nice bloke who runs it.

Has anyone been to Whitley Bay lately ? just wondering if it still gets busy for drinking
Written July 23, 2018
Hi Marilyn,
Whitley Bay has changed so much in the last ten years and the drinking street is now almost derelict. There is still one pub at the bottom and two at the top - the top two did look busy last weekend, but think this was due to good weather. New pubs have opened on Park View and attract an older crowd, there is also the Left Luggage in Monkseaton station which is very popular. So the answer is yes does still get busy but much more sprawling and a different clientele. The old centre pubs are also busy at the weekend, the Firestation, and not sure of the other three names. Most younger ones moved to Tynemouth, Jesmond, Newcastle, and North Shields Quay. Hope this is helpful. Nearly forgot the new Spanish City Dome has just opened and I am sure that will attract many as it is beautiful and views stunning.
