Discover life sized reconstructions of Celtic roundhouses, join the crew of the Odin’s Raven on a Viking longship as it returns from the battle of Clontarf, or find out what life was life in a Viking longhouse. You’ll also hear about the magnificent stone crosses dotted around the Island’s landscape and find out where you can still see them. Explore 19th Century Peel with a walk around the quayside, complete with traditional sights and smells from the Manx kipper yard, and uncover the importance of the sea to the lives of the people on the Isle of Man. During your journey from past to present you’ll also come face to face with characters telling you stories and superstitions from the Island’s past. An attraction not to be missed!

Great museum, well worth spending a few hours. Interactive sections for kids, history, dioramas and oral material all really well done.
We went as a couple but definitely great for families too

Originally went to Peel for the Castle, but this was much better that expected. A really well put together museum showing much of the history of IOM. The displays were very interactive with English information but not too much. Lovely coffee shop as well.

Absolutely superb

Can't praise this place highly enough - so very interesting, a great mix of artefacts and dioramas bring history to life. The Odin's Raven display is breathtaking, loved the roundhouse, street scene and the activites for kids, the short films were well worth watching. The cafe was also super, cheapest tea in town and nice staff. Unmissable.

History brought to life

Using a central character to take you through the history of the Isle of Man is a brilliant idea. Interesting for all ages. You could spend several hours within its walls, if you read everything, or simply listen and watch all of the screens and 'sets'. Beautifully done.

The house of Manannon is not your usual museum, I was pleasantly surprised by the content in each room.

The history of the Isle of Man story is told through displays that are reconstructions of buildings used in the Isle of Man over the centuries, plus artifacts and interactive audio-visual clips and in some cases the associated smells.

The only downside was that there is so much audio content that sometimes you can also hear the commentaries from the other displays.

There is a small, free car park behind the museum, with an overflow car park close by.
This experience is good value for money.

Brilliant trip

Went recently with our three year old son, took us an hour and a half to go round. Very informative, lots to take in. Our three year old just about managed to pay attention the whole way round. The lady working was originally from Bolton and she was brilliant, very informative and chatted to us and our son which was nice.

Took a group of young people here from a holiday club at short notice and a lovely guide lady called Charlotte was wonderful with them - answering all their questions and keeping them fully engaged into the experience. Thank you

Museum telling the story of Man in an interesting and innovative way. The full size sets in each room were interesting to look at. I particularly liked the replica long ship display.
