The strand Centre Douglas
Feb 2020 • Family
This is a very small shopping centre. It has the Entertainer which is great for children. Peacocks and sports direct upstairs. When we visited there were small charity stalls on the bottom floor. Toilets upstairs are handy if shopping around Douglas.

A brave effort at attracting shoppers
Aug 2019
We went here on the 4th of August 2019. The centre opens at 1200 until 1700.
It has about 5 shops. That's it really.

Not amazing - but still has shops
Jul 2019 • Couples
The most interesting thing was how few coffee shops there were in this particular road. Although it is not a particularly pleasant shopping centre, at least it still has retail outlets and is hidden behind the promenade so that it doesn't dominate the sea front.

The Strand Shopping Centre
May 2019 • Solo
There is very little here that mentions the name the Strand Shopping Centre.

You see Sports Direct in big letters at the entrance.

The shopping centre itself has a big Sports Direct store and a few other shops. It also has a few members of the public, I went in on a Saturday and the place was almost empty.

Now I know that some of the retailers they has=d here in the past have struggled nationally. HMV and Mothercare.

However this shopping centre now 30 years old is probably going to have the last rites read to it soon until things drastically change.

To think there were some thriving business's here before the buildings were knocked down to build this small mall.

Big improvement. Shops have issues.

Now owned by Sports Direct. Downstairs is flannels. Upstairs is peacocks and sports direct and peacocks.

Went into Sports Direct, almost deserted. They’ve added a new floor level and internal lift. Several disinterested staff, no one on tills. Nearly walked out.

A New Lease of Life
Aug 2017 • Solo
It is a little known fact that the Strand shopping center is under new ownership.

This is a very exciting time for Douglas and the Island as a whole.
The shopping center has been going through some dramatic changes as of late with a Sports Direct and a USC opening in the up and coming day.

Is has been said that some records where broken while loading in the stock for both of these shops and it has been claimed that the world record for cage loading was broken on Monday the 14th of August by the self proclaimed best cage loading team in the world.

Back again - no change
Nov 2016 • Solo
Sad to say but my return visit 6 months later and the new owner has made not an ounce of difference/improvement to the place.
Same old shops clinging to life in a dirty run down old shack.
Let's not mention the facilities, it would be safer/cleaner to used those across the road (and that is sad to say).
What is happening here folks, you need to boycott the place till they make some real improvements, this place let's the town centre down.
Why not ask the locals what they want to see, take a look at other centres in the U.K. and Europe and come up with a real plan for change.
Make it the hub of the town, where people can meet, shop and eat in relaxed surroundings.
Will be back in 6 months for another review

Does A Purpose
Oct 2016 • Solo
Stopped in this centre when I was visiting the Isle of Man. It does the purpose for the locals while it is a nice interior, it is let down by its restroom facilities especially when the gents didn't even have any toilet roll. The good looking parts of this centre are sadly let down by the lack of shops.

The only collection of shops in town under one roof
Mar 2016 • Family
The new owner really needs to get a grip of this place. It has been failing for some time now and is only kept going be three half decent big shops.
If the larger shops decide to up and leave the place will end up derelict.
It has no life.
Please please breath some life into this place. Turn it into something that people will want to visit rather than drop by on the off chance that something has improved.
