This is a centrally located bar was busy at lunchtime, unsurprising since it does great food. I must recommend the pies. The beer was well kept and the staff really friendly, bringing our beer to the table and popping over when we were nearly finished to see if we wanted more. We went again in the evening, it was very lively with a lovely atmosphere. If you are visiting the IOM it is well worth a visit

Had a couple of beers in "The Thirsty" with some locals, very friendly welcoming staff. Nicely priced, good spot to watch sport - particularly if travelling on your own I'd say.

Lovely little pub located in Douglas. If you want somewhere to go on a week day with good beer a lack of idiots this could well be worth a look. The only bad point is the design of the toilets which are a very long walk downstairs into the bowels of the building. The disabled toilet is however on the same level as the main pub.

A converted old bank building, the bar itself often works well. Terry (one of the managers) is a real professional, the perfect bar man. His talent is wasted in this one though. The very worst aspect of this pub hits you when you go through the door to find the toilets. There's a disabled toilet which seems to be used by most people. The other toilets are down two flights of stairs which are covered in the most filthy carpet you can imagine, the smell of stale vomit covered by air freshener, and they stairs themselves feel as if they might collapse at any moment. The smell from the toilets hits you before you go into them. The ladies has two cubicles, in both of which the flush rarely works properly. There is often no paper and often no soap at the sinks. The smell from these toilets often seeps into the bar when (in their wisdom) the bar staff decide to prop the adjoining door open. For a trendy pub masquerading as a bigshot finance sector hot-spot, the facilities are a disgrace. Even the Nag's Head facilities are far superior to those in the Thirsty Pigeon. And this pub's drinks are among the most expensive in Douglas. If that is the state of their toilets, I hate to imagine the kitchen from which comes their expensive bar food.

I have visited the Thirsty Pigeon a couple of times on my trips to the Isle of Man and one thing we always receive is a warm welcome! I quite fancied a Mint Baileys when I last visited unfortunately the bar staff said they didn't have any.. step forward the owner who made me his own variation of a mint baileys. It was the nicest one I have ever tasted. The bar serves all kinds of unique drinks which no other bar on the island serve, Fantastic service, great drinks. What more do you need!

I'll start with a positive - packed and a lively atmosphere. However, staff behind bar atrocious when I visited. Are they trained at all? Busy pub means lots of people to serve( and money for the business). My experience was that staff more interested in themselves and looking good rather than making an effort to get customers what they predominantly go into a pub for - a drink. Waited far too long whilst staff talked to each other and checked themselves in the mirror and I wasn't the only one.

Stumble upon this (& out!) on a walk around Douglas one afternoon, as my father keeps racing pigeons I couldn't walk past! So glad I didn't as the staff & customers are super friendly and we got to taste some of the Manx Cider, Jenny Lay Back, strong & lethal, just had to have another! We visited a few times during our stay & had a great time every time, a great friendly pub, wish I lived down the road from it.

Friendly staff and clientele. Popped in for a lunchtime drink, popped out several later. Just a one room bar and a good old fashioned type of pub. That's not to say the homemade shots are not bang up todate.
