Duncan is a brilliant tour guide with great knowledge of the area and its hidden castles. We had a group of 3 young kids and he made the trip really interesting for kids & parents alike. I would highly recommend this tour

Duncan picked us up from a local North Berwick hotel and whisked us away to another world of storytelling and adventure! Growing up near Edinburgh, I have visited East Lothian many times, and can confirm this is definitely a Hidden Castles tour! I had my eyes opened to new places and heard some great tales of fact and folklore! It was a really fascinating day. Duncan was a fantastic guide, it really felt like he tailored the trip and the stories to our interests. He was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide, yet it felt like being out with a friend. Equipped with tea and biscuits, a great packed picnic and a wee dram what more could you ask for! This tour is a true gem. For being so close to the city it is a must have for locals and visitors alike. Thanks Duncan.

This day out had the best of everything. Welly boot walks through woodlands, beautiful houses, local knowledge, atmospheric ruins, a walk on the beach and a very patient guide! Dealing with four women out on a hen do with a difference, our guide was very patient with our questions and endless photos. The view of the Pentlands, Arthur's Seat, Bass Rock and even Ben Lomond from the top of an Iron Age hill fort was stunning. The stories of local families and notable figures from history were shared - not scripted, which was a nice change to many tours I've been on. If you are looking for a day out with moderate exercise, plenty of fresh air and a variety of activities with a guide who patently enjoys what he is doing - this is it! I may have to book a second trip as my partner wants to go now!

My sister and I enjoyed our day touring hidden sights with Duncan as our guide. He met us at the train station, which was a short ride from Waverley, and he was telling us stories and sharing knowledge with us as soon as we buckled up. Duncan was patient with us, as I stopped many times to take photos and my sister was recovering from an injury - so we weren't covering terrain a fast pace, but Duncan didn't seem to mind. On request, Duncan provided welly boots and a delicious lunch. There were a variety of sandwiches, crisps, fruit, and biscuits. Tea/coffee and biscuits were also provided and the views from our picnic lunch and tea were spectacular. We enjoyed getting out of the city, which was packed with tourists for the arts festival and getting a different perspective of Scotland and gain an appreciation for its natural beauty. It was a great day and we saw a lot!
