There is so much to see in both of the museums that I think it's best to do this as two half days especially if you have children. The folk Museum is delightful with buildings having been moved to the side from all over Ireland. Each is fascinating in itself. Likewise the transport Museum has plenty to hold one's attention... Started off in the folk museum just after opening. Wonderfully interesting with helpful friendly staff. So lovely to explore all the houses and see how people lived. A tasting of soda bread was great; just needed more but the printer had kindly printed the recipe. From here we popped over to the transport area. Amazing with a great selection of... More

My partner and I have just spent a thoroughly interesting and entertaining day at the folk museum. it is a fascinating insight into the past and the fact that they removed and relocated old dwellings brick by brick and rebuilt them was just incredible. The staff were very interesting and friendly and it was great to watch the dying trades... More

Visited on Model Railway day. What a fantastic day - very busy but staff on reception were dealing with queues well. So many models to look at we especially loved the sit on railways including one permanently on the site - though I understand not open everyday it was fantastic very long train journey and twice around. Couldn't recommend enough

Had a good day with our three girls ( 7,4,4) at the two museums. Highlights in the folk park was the actors bringing history to life but it was a pity some of the main houses didn't have these. Think the idea of a workbook for kids would be good (they had one in the transport museum). The transport museum... More

One of the best place in Belfast so far. Great Museum covering the history of railroad, car making, public transport in Ireland and NI. There was a part dedicated to Titanic. Never thought that UK was one of the largest car manufactures not from volume but from car brands perspective, the well known De Lorean from "back to the future"... More

We went to the Halloween ghost tour this month around the folk park. It was £10 for the tour which is a little pricey considering it didn't last even an hour! The visitor guides were excellent, they were very interesting to listen too and engaged with everyone! The tour was good fun and very jumpy! Lots of hidden gouls jumping... More

It was fun to observe the differences between Texas folk destinations versus Belfast, N. Ireland. I especially enjoyed meeting a wool weaver and a linen weaver and a very talented blacksmith. My lunch was very tasty, too. Meanwhile, my husband, a train enthusiast was enjoying the transport museum. It was a great afternoon for both of us.

We turned up without any particular plans to see any displays , but just to look around. P1 aged child loved the old school building. Re-enactors were interesting - all good, some better than others . Would go again

I visited the folk park. It was an immersive experience with the whole site set out like a town and farm with farm houses. Knowledgeable staff in costume are on hand to explain the buildings, stories of former owners and to demonstrate crafts. Fires in grates and smoking chimneys give the sense that the owners will return at any moment.... More
