We went for a midweek meal for 2, basically as we had both been working hard, and didn’t want to cook and wash up etc. We’ve been to the Lime Tree before and always had a good meal, and plenty of it.... There was a new m3nu today, 2 meals for £12, a limited choice. Th3 boss had a rump steak which was really tasty. I had beer battered Cod. It was a nice fresh and white piece of cod. The meal was great., the service was good. If you visit Paignton and don’t want to go to Wetherspoons, go here. Good food at a reasonable price.

Food was served quickly and portions were plentiful. We liked the pick and choose menu. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I found this pub/restaurant by accident taking what I thought was a short cut, it’s tucked away behind the railway station, just off the main shopping street from the beach, to the left just before the level crossing. Which probably explains why most of the customers were locals. I was not there to eat, just drink, but from what I saw of the food it looked good and was very reasonably priced. The drinks were fine and the prices seemed similar to others in the area. There are large sports type televisions in there. It is a better than average larger pub that was not crowded. The lighting could be better in places.

We came here on 19th May having read recent reviews on tripadvisor and being positively optimistic that the place had got rid of its old, terrible reputation. I tell you one thing, it's a good job we are all really good friends who can laugh at ourselves as it probably would have been a lot worse if not. I was essentially excited about the new refurb and paint job and menu and saw that some had said the food was excellent. Far from it... my chilli con carne came with microwaveable rice and the kidney beans were burnt. My friends ribs were overcooked and my other friends steak looked as though it had been cooked the night before, reheated and then served to a paying customer. We were offered a drink on the house for the long 45 minute wait we had to endure when there was no other customer ordering food. But this certainly didn't make up for the drunk parents screaming and shouting and fighting with each other for everyone to hear with young children being caught up in the drama. Absolutely disgusted with how that entire situation was handled and I certainly won't be coming back any time soon. Real shame that it was such a negative experience as I'd hoped that a refurb would do the place some good. As mentioned in the title to this review, a leopard never changes its spots. Point proven.

We went into what was know as the old Lime Tree but now call the cattlemans chicken House, Which is owned by the same people as the Parkers Arms and found the pub to be really nice and well decorated. we had a meal which was reasonably priced with large portions. It has a great selection of children meals and even a good selection of vegetarian meals, The menu is mainly chicken dishes hence the name but there was plenty of choice from chicken kebabs to Chicken keiv, with a great selection of sides from Chips to Jacket potatoes. We did read he previous reviews and decide to try and glad we did as we didn't experience any problems and we all had a decent dinner and drinks for the four of us for under £40 which is good value this day and age , We also though the menu was well laid out with a good selection in each price range, they also do similar meals and takeouts to KFC but we did not see that menu until after we had ordered but really enjoyed our food selection

Myself and my partner popped in as we were looking for somewhere different to eat during our stay in Paignton. We went into the bar where there appeared to be no staff. It was only when the bouncer told the young barmaid we were waiting that we got served. The bar was full of drunken louts who were very loud and swearing. Definitely would not take my family here if I ever revisit. We would of ordered food if the place was more appealing the service was up to scratch

Before anything, this is a Summer 2018 review. This pub changed management more times than I can remember, so this is not for the past years! "Great for Karaoke and passing the time but if you thinking of going there to eat, you will be much better off cooking at home! Basically I was shocked at the pasta dish served to us! It was disgraceful, the pasta was heavily overcooked and tasted of nothing at all! I said I couldn't eat it, so the landlord offered me another dish. I chose a chicken burger thinking to be on the safe side, after the awful bad experience, but I was double badly shocked again when it came and was equally awful! It was just a tiny piece of chicken like rubber texture in a white horrible bun with a leaf of black lettuce! Another piece of warning, please don't misguide yourselves by the fake reviews on Facebook created by the landlord, friends and family lying how wonderful the food is! That hideous thing called meal, cost £8.50!! Go to Weatherspoon, don't waste a penny there if you want to eat something edible!"
To the poor response just received, all I have to say back is that I said nothing but the truth! I only wish I had taken some photos of these two equally hideous dishes!! I wouldn't have any reasons at all to lie, why on earth would I have said your food was disgraceful if it wasn't?! £8.50, £20 or 1 pence, it's not the issue!! The big issue is that you need to pay decent money to hire someone who truly knows at least the basics of cooking!! Hire a chef for crying out loud!!! Oh ok, so you just cooked something hideous just for me, then? If everyone else's is so fantastically satisfied with your wonderful cooking, then the only thing I could think about is that you just served me s***t on purpose, is that it?! What other name should I use for landlord..? Owner, ok, I call you owner then if you don't like landlord, who cares when the point I'm making is still the same. Just keep it for drinking, karaoke crisps and roast peanuts, but don't serve anything on plates..!
