Fabulous walk in beautiful surrounds - but be warned - its an uphill walk back to the car park
Nov 2021 • Couples
Fabulous country walk with loads of paths and muddy trails to enjoy - the dog was in heaven and vovered in mud at the end of it.
The only things I felt let it down was that there are so many tracks and trails to follow that it was hard to tally up with the map of routes we were trying to use but thankfully there are so many friendly walkers here you'll soon be shown the right way if you've strayed a little
The only other thing to let it down is it is quite a strenuous uphill walk on the return leg - yes, I know you'll work that out by walking down but if you've travelled some distance to visit there is no mention of this on the website, and as I suffer with breathing issues it was a bit of a challenge - thankfully my labrador thinks she's a sled dog and pulled me up to the top again :-)
A very beautiful walk and well worth the effort

A fantastic asset for wonderful Wigan
Sep 2020 • Family
It's a lovely natural woodland park, the plantations are wonderful to walk cycle run wander and explore.
The hall is grand and can be seen for miles away. The children's park is good.
Add to that cafes and golf courses, it's a great place for a lazy day or an active day. There is also a train!

Slow painfully slow
Jul 2021 • Family
Went there today to see the dinasaurs, what a mistake that was. Took an hour to drive down the approach lane, 30 min queues at the loo, refreshments in fact at everything. There where thousands of people non were socially distant. Managed to see some of the dinasaurs and although my 5 year old grandson enjoyed it can't say I did.

Dangerous
Jul 2021 • Family
Very disappointed when I visited the Woodland fair to find that the guy who was supervising the trampolines left the attraction for 5-10 minutes and leaving the trampolines, with children on, locked and unattended. I had to unlock them to let my son and someone else's child off. The lock is very stiff and was difficult to get open. My son has LQTS so we carry a defibrillator at all times, I dread to think what could have happened had he had a cardiac event. Very irresponsible. When I questioned the guy on his return he just argued with me. I tried to contact the fair separately through their Facebook page, but they have chosen to ignore my message. I find it difficult to believe that this was allowed to happen at such a long standing, busy attraction. We will not be visiting again and we will be discouraging others based on our experience.

Shocking , shambles !
Jul 2021 • Family
We went to the dinosaur event and when we arrived we were turned away. It was very badly organised.
We queued for over an hour and my daughter was very disappointed at the events which occurred due to lack of organisation and communication.
We arrived at the gate and there was one man (marshal) supporting the event. I was indicating to turn into the event and he signalled me to continue on the road past the event.
I shouted across and asked ‘Is the event full ? Are you taking any more entries?’ He replied ‘yes , it’s full’.

I had my daughter in the back crying her eyes out, as she really wanted to see the dinosaurs. She has been looking forward to it all day.

There should have been someone Marshall further down the road as the traffic was awful. It was backed up massively! No communication and an utter shambles .
For a well known please you’d think this would have been organised better.

Ice cream surprise
Jul 2021 • Friends
Me and my friends come to haigh hall every other day. Recently we have seen an ice cream van. We decided the get an ice cream and we were greeted by a lovely woman who spoke in a very generous manner. We were pleasantly surprised by this and we return every week for an ice cream. Highly recommend.

Lovely Play Area Suitable for All Ages
Jun 2021
A great park with lots to do for children of all ages. The park has lots of different types of climbing frames with vary in ability which is what makes it fun for the kids to explore.

There are 2 crazy golf sites one small one that is open at the weekend and is only £1 per person to play and the other is a 18 hole experience.

The cafe served some good quality food at a reasonable price but will probably take a picnic next time as there is lots of open space to set up a blanket or tables if you want one

Walled garden
May 2021 • Solo
I really like the old walled gardens away from the courtyard. We'll maintained and some lovely plants and trees. Great gor walking the dog without the hassle of the paths in the other parts. Courtyard food much improved with a good choice including a bar, bakery, ice cream and chocolate shop
