Having been given the gift of a half day's tuition with Stuart, I was hoping to get confirmation of everything I had picked up to date since taking up fly-fishing several years ago. Stuart did not leave me down. He was quick to pick up what level I was at and work with that. He gave instrumental tips on gear, watercraft, casting, fly presentation and dealing with tough conditions! A memorable day, for sure.

I was honoured to be given this gift of 1/2 day fishing tuition with Stuart from my colleagues at Macphie when I retired in March 2021. From the minute you speak to Stuart on phone to the actual day itself he puts you at ease . Our lesson on River Wear , it was raining a bit, so I thought we might not have a good day, how wrong was I !! From the outset he is teaching you in a way you dont forget , i thought I knew a bit ,but actually knew nothing like what i needed Stuart teachs you the river, what to look for , flies to use, tackle options etc. My casting improved 1000% in his company in a very short space of time, I caught 3 fish ,one a beautiful brown trout that put up a great fight, and my first Grayling all safely returned. Stuart Wardle is a fly fishing " God" very modest , great company and extremley funny. Amazing day, my Thanks to Simon Jones and my fantastic colleagues at Macphie for this fantastic gift and my grateful thanks to Stuart for his brilliant tuition and company.

Wow Tonym !, I've been called many things but that is a first 🙂🙂 Your company and banter was brilliant and I can confirm the game pie you made for me was delicious. It was an absolute pleasure and I'm delighted you had a great experience with The Durham Fly Fishing Company My business ethos is very much client centric and to exceed expectations. Have just two of the best days you could ask for, fly fishing with Stuart. I would consider myself very much a novice (and Stuart might say I still am), but with Stuart’s teaching style, and manner, I felt like I had been fishing for years. What an incredible treat to be on the River Eden and River Tees, a beautiful and unspoilt part of the country. If you are a novice (like me), or experienced, I would not hesitate in recommending a day or two with Stuart.

Many thanks Alastair for your very kind review. Just so you know I think you did really well over the two days especially when day 1 was tough you certainly made up for it on Day 2 with some lovely fish. It was an absolute pleasure, and I am already looking forward to your next visit. Tight lines and be careful .....this fly fishing lark can be seriously addictive. Ha Ha !! best wishes Stuart

Had a half day session, fly fishing on the tees. It was a voucher gift. I made contact with Stuart once the Coronavirus restrictions were lifted. All the equipment was provided, rod, waders, flies and permits and licences too. Stuart knew exactly where to fish and what flies to use. I'd done some fly fishing before and he was brilliant at coaching. He was extremely patient especially when I was heavy handed on the strike. The fish were taking but grayling only. I caught maybe 5 or 6 ranging from a couple of inches to 10 or so, no trout that evening. Stuart was great, he really knew his stuff and great company. I would recommend him to anyone.
