Really lovely grounds, and the frog, snake and insect house was an unexpected bonus. As it's a bit of a hike from the city centre we can understand why it doesn't cater much for pedestrians, but a few more signs at and just in the...More

Many thanks for visiting our gardens. You are right that as Durham is hilly, so parts of the garden are too, but I hope you found plenty of more level areas near to the Visitor Centre to enjoy.

The Botanic Garden is 25 acres and can be reached by the No 6 bus from the city centre, or a 20-30 minute walk.

Lovely place! Lived in the area all of our lives and never been here. Even better as it was a lovely sunny day. Not miles to walk but great place for a wander and a picnic.

Like the oriental museum a short bus ride (same stop but a longer walk in the opposite direction). Lovely gardens with useful information on various specimens. Not too large though we only did about half.

Please come back and see the rest of the gardens when you are next in the area, they change constantly between the seasons so there is always something new to see.
