I enjoyed walking around this old market hall. it gave some insight to what it would have been like a hundred or so years ago and the tobacconist, such a rarity these days I am pleased to say, was fascinating and may not have changed much for decades apart from the health warnings. I did not find anything I needed... More

We were in Durham for an afternoon The indoor market is a great piece of English history, with the various shops, restaurant upstairs and a nice historical building. Definitely worth a look.

Worth a look around for a typical old market - I don't know the age but the entrances look very historic and contains a warren of aisles with all sorts of stalls and a mezzanine café looking out over the river

Great wee indoor market with big cafe area overlooking the stalls. Everything on sale, lots of different independent shops. Great for the community as well. Wish we'd had more time to see the rest of the shops as well. Brilliant.

Was rather disappointing that on the weekend of the Xmas market the stall holders were not all open and the Market was not very festive. A few Xmas decorations would have been lovely. Music outside in the square was very festive though.

Heading for the Cathedral and noticed the Market in the corner of the square so popped in for a look-see. Lively and with a good mix of produce and other stalls, it is well worth a visit when traveling through Durham.

Had a great time wandering round the market and seeing what was on offer. Loved the music box- bought a few vinyl records from the man there and there was a good selection (best we managed to find in Durham actually).

A really good experience. A genuine old style market, with fish mongers etc sitting alongside those types of businesses that perhaps dont justify the rent of a shop on its own but do a market stall. There are the usual haberdashers , fishmongers, card shops etc but also a toy shop, dvd stall, antique /memorabilla stall. Its all located off... More

A great small market in the centre of Durham that you can possibly find anything you can imagine from Wool to Rabbit for a nice wintery stew. A bit narrow for the buggy and a wheelchair but with friendly people all over to help. There is a small café upstairs which I haven't tried but looked good. Prices were varied... More
