A wonderful surprise

This beautiful home and garden is exceptional. Very unusual to see three distinct period houses so well looked after and so interconnected. The cafe is good too !

I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful establishment today and would encourage anyone who is able, to visit where possible. Crook Hall and Gardens is a unique location in the heart of Durham city. Even at this time of the year, the gardens are still worth a walk through, the views of Durham are excellent. Enjoy a tasty cream... More

Booked Crook Hall for afternoon tea for my birthday with my husband. It was an awful day in terms of weather. Freezing cold and raining. But this beautiful place is well worth the visit in the rain. Inside the gorgeous house we had the most amazing afternoon tea with canapés to start. From here the food was exceptional. Beautiful cakes... More

Visited on a sunny autumn day, lovely colours in the trees. House v atmospheric. Wish we'd tried the tea room.

Fantastic place hidden away. Tipsy afternoon tea is recommended! Staff and food are exceptional. Open air theatre here during summer months is also well worth a visit.

Firstly, I would like to say this is in easy walking distance of the city centre. If you drive, the carpark isn't big so best to use the pay and display on the road outside. We booked afternoon tea at Crook Hall and on arrival were pleasantly surprised to find that this included entry to the house and gardens. The... More

We visited on a very wet day but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The gardens are beautiful with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. There is a maze which we enjoyed and then went and had the most amazing scones inside the house. Well worth a visit

Lovely day out. First time there despite living in Durham for 7 years! It was a princess day with Snow White, Red riding hood, Alice and others walking about the small but well maintained gardens. No play area for the kids but a great maze was fun enough. Lunch is expensive with the children's menu a little sparse. Otherwise a... More

We had booked this in for an elderly friend . This was served in the drawing room. We were the only people there. We were offered prosecco but as we were driving we had the elderflower cordial which we all found a bit too sweet. The food came on a three tier cake stand preceded by some canapés which were... A really nice visit. The house is very interesting with its mixture of period styles and the gardens are lovely. There is a variety of different sections to the garden, including a round maze and a large pond. We had a cup of tea and some delicious ginger cake in the main house.
