Walking into Old Elvet in Durham we were about to cross Elvet Bridge when we spotted The Tin Of Sardines Bar,the smallest bar in Durham with the biggest selection of gins in this pretty town.
This bar is tiny but full of character, eclectic decor and furnishings, a tiny cute looking serving bar with an array of gins that is very impressive, there's also seating options spread around the bar and outside onto Elvet Bridge.
We ordered a beer each, we chose Birra Moretti beer, we sat outside were we just kicked back and planned out the day ahead while sipping our beers.
My beer was really good, Birra Moretti beer is a light, hoppy and unpretentious Italian lager bursting with taste, on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a freezing cold beer in a great location.
We really enjoyed our beers in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and for a first time visit to The Tin Of Sardines Bar we were more than impressed.
The Tin Of Sardines Bar is easy to locate along Elvet Bridge.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm.
A great bar,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

A Tin Of Sardines is an excellent gin bar on Elvet bridge that offers a massive range of gins and mixers and craft beer's and is the smallest bar in Durham.
This bar is tiny with a vintage chic look and feel with superb seating options outside on Elvet bridge.Very busy when we visited this superb gin bar and as it was a roasting hot day we sat outside on the bridge. When we visited here we didn't have a gin as most of the time we drink cask and craft beers and when here we had a Pale ale from the Birra Moretti brewery which where fantastic and well priced for a bar of this quality.
This is a superb bar and well worth visiting and is very easy to find from Shire Hall bus stop it's a five minute's walk.(This is my first review of A Can Of Sardines).
Opening Hours.
Monday-Sunday-12.00-23.00.
Nearest Bus Stop.
Shire Hall bus stop.

Me and my boyfriend came for a last drink after a meal and got a superb service. Blown away. The lovely Matthew asked us what we wanted and we weren't sure, we went dealers choice, where you tell the bar tender things you like and don't like. We wanted fruity and fresh, and we got served the nicest gin I have ever had. My boyfriend doesn't even particularly like gin and really enjoyed the drinks we got, very reasonable prices too.

Big thanks to Matthew for making our night 💞

Great location, is really small but has a nice seating area outside with good views, the manager was very friendly. My wife and I both had Jamison's whiskey with one bottle of ginger and very nice this was, served in crystal glasses. What was not so nice was the price of £12 60p, I think this was too much to pay for two drinks, so be prepared, anyone for a large bill

We enjoyed sitting outside people watching whilst drinking gin from lovely glasses. The pleasant guy who served us was super helpful in asking the right questions to suggest a gin and mixer to suit our tastes. Well done.

Improve the service. Offer menus.Reduce price of soft drinke.(£3.00 for a very small coke.) Let the customers finish their drinks before coming with the bill. They might want more than one drink.

Situated on the edge of the old bridge, this bar is great to sit out and people watch if thats your kind of thing. The four stars are not for the beer choice (limited - its a gin bar) but for the excellent and friendly service the very pleasant young man gave us. Well done sir "!

Came across this little gin bar by chance and what a find, went there 3 times! Such a cute little space with so much choice it’s almost impossible to choose! The bar staff were amazing, talking you through the options and just great company. Felt like a house party, everyone so friendly. Special thanks to Lauren who was absolutely lovely and knows her gins too!

Only good thing was the location right on Elvet Bridge, not bad if you like Gin but a good few options had sold out. Spirits and beer options were awful. If you have a Gin bar great but cater for those who want something else. Half of the beers and spirits were out of stock anyway.
