On a recent visit to my sister I had to print off my boarding card. Could I find an internet cafe anywhere-no. Along to the library I went and after becoming a Member (free) I was allowed access to the very good internet facilities. The staff were very helpful and although my visit was short even a quick look around told me that there is a lot here of interest to the reader, learner or information seeker. Thoroughly recommend

I found myself wandering around Barrow in search of somewhere I could print my Ryanair Boarding Pass. Having tried an internet cafe in the indoor market (no longer in existence), another internet cafe in town (no print facility) I was pointed in the direction of the Library which I remember fondly from my formative years before leaving Barrow in the early 70´s. I explained my predicament to one of the very helpful assistants who informed me I would need to become a Library member(foc) before I could use the internet. She showed me to a machine and explained how to access it. Two minutes later I left with my boarding pass safely secured.

Remember coming here with my grandfather many years ago. Not really changed in all the passing years. Good local sections.

As a disabled person I needed some help from the staff to find what I needed I found them kind, helpful and polite. They guided me to where I needed to look. I would recommend people with disabilities to attend the library, knowing that they will be supported.

They still do a ot of events to get people through the doors. The staff are not as friendly as they once were, whether due to the cutbacks or staff moves.
The toilets are always locked now and you have to be escorted by a librarian who unlocks and relocks the door, apparently due to vandalism but I suspect more to do with drug use.

It's just a library! - standard public building! Why is it even on this site?
It is just a public amenity, not an attraction. Interesting statue outside though

This library has exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They are understanding and accommodating to service users with special needs including autism. The library is well designed and modern inside without compromising the traditional, historic architecture. The areas within the library are clearly defined with a specially designed children's library and a computer suite. There are comfy social areas and quiet study areas, you can even have a hot drink. They run lots of events and groups for all ages and a range of interests.
