This library has exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They are understanding and accommodating to service users with special needs including autism. The library is well designed and modern inside without compromising the traditional, historic architecture. The areas within the library are clearly defined with a specially designed children's library and a computer suite. There are comfy social areas and quiet... More

In an old Victorian building the library has the archive section, computer section, reference section, dvd section, childrens' section and of course the book section which caters mostly to mainstream books. However, other books may be ordered from any county library for a £1 charge. Numerous tables available for reading or studying, and several soft chairs which are quite low. Hot drinks available from... More

Sometimes visiting authors attend and the reference library section is very good for researching all the past events in our popular North West Evening Mail, all copies... More

I can't stress how great this place is. You can go here and get as many books as you want... FOR FREE I've made an absolute fortune from this, selling books on to those restaurants that use book pages as wallpaper. Get on it while there's still some left!

This library has an excellent archives section that I have visited on several occasions when doing family research. There are microfiche records of Births, Marriages and Deaths and there are many parish records and directories that are not available on line.

There is an excellent archive here and a wi-fi and computer zone. The range of literature is amazing and the staff extremely helpful.
