You will not find a greater selection of canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and more available to hire, demo or buy anywhere in the Lake District. Just twenty minutes from the M6 and based directly on the shore of the famous and beautiful Windermere. As well as boats we offer a range of mountain bikes for hire to explore the trails around the lake shore. We also offer Guided tours around the islands on Windermere, stopping off on our very own sponsored island Thompsons Holme for a brew before heading back home again. If you fancy learning a few skills then tuition is the way forward. We offer lessons for almost anybody at any level. Just let us know what you want to achieve and we'll make it happen.

I booked online for Stand Up Paddle-boarding for me and my 10 year old son. The boards were literally brand new that day and the other kit was all in really good condition. The 2 young gents who were staffing that day really helped us out and after a quick refresher we were off. It all felt very safe and... More

We were looking for a half day of cycling near Ambleside that is safe and not too hard but with "off road" sections for 12 year old daughter. Chose Sawrey and Claife Heights, 10 mile, 500ft ascent, route up onto hill and then back via Wray Castle and lake shore. Bike hire couldn't have been easier. Good bikes, well equipped... More

My wife booked myself and daughter onto a bcu 3 star refresher with Kit and an opportunity to try out a few boats before we bought some. In a nutshell Kit is fab, what a knowledgeable competent kayak instructor. We hadn't been on the water in the UK for quite some time and had been pottering about abroad. We all... More

We hired two Saracen mountain bikes for 5 hours ( £20 per bike 9:30 a.m.-4:30 pm) and travelled over 15 miles from Windermere to Wray Castle and then back through Hawshead back to Bowness. Absolutely wonderful adventure, very calm and tranquil with stunning mountainous views and idyllic scences of the lakes. As you have the whole day with the bikes... More

It was a suprise for my wife as it was our 10th wedding anniversary she had no idea until we got... More

Hired 2 single kayaks for 3 hours. Had a great time on the water, and a great experience from Windermere Canoe Kayak. All equipment included, and a very small charge for wetsuit hire to go with it. Highly recommended.

You don’t have to be experienced if you want to explore Windermere Lake by a rented kayak. It is a fantastic activity and definitely worth the money!! Windermere Lake itself has a plenty of small islands that can be explored. Some of them are easily approachable by a kayak and even more than that: you can actually get off and... More

I booked the bike and boat option and was not disappointed. Booking was relatively simple, although had to be by phone as they don't have to option for the bike & boat online. When we arrived we filled in some paperwork and were taken to the bikes, given a brief run down or gears etc and where to go, along... More
