Great way to see the lake and find out more about it ! Very informative and value for money ! The local shops were excellent , with great coffee shops to keep you warm on the damp days . The harbour / marina is worth a look around as the boats are fantastic .

The lake was serene as we cruised past moored craft and holiday houses. Bigger houses fronted the lake and made us envious of their perfect watery outlook. It was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. We saw the steam train arrive just before the cruise departed, hissing steam at the small boys excitedly waving to the... More

We boarded the Green Cruise ship in Ambleside and traveled around Windermere Lake on a pretty day. Once out on the lake, the views of the surrounding hills, residences and forests are very photogenic. We didn't get off at one of several stops (as many people did) but rather stayed on for the round trip.

Great cruises on the Lake , boats to hire, lots of coffee shops around the Lake area. You can cruise up to Ambleside or down the Lake to Lakeside ( Newby Bridge ). For two adults and 90 minute cruise was £22 , tea, coffee, food and Alcohol on sale on board too.

We started off at Haverthwaite and had the steam train ride to Lakeside then transferred to the boat and went the whole length of the lake to Ambleside which took 90 mins. We could have stayed on and do a reverse journey but got off to have a bite to eat at the café along the promenade then returned on... More

We took the red line cruse from bowness to Ambleside. It takes around 25 mins. At £10.50 return it's good value for money and you get great views

Last year we used the boat for a return trip from Bowness to Ambleside. This year we travelled on M.V. Swan for a return trip from Bowness to Lake side The boats have plenty of covered upstairs seating with open sides to give excellent views whilst protecting you from the rain. The boats have a bar and coffe shop, have... More
