I would highly recommend lake cruses. We traveled both the blue & red cruses. Much easier & more pleasant way to view the lakes than by car. The boats are lovely & all the staff are very pleasant & helpful. They run very frequent & make stops to different destinations on route & catch a later boat back. Best way... More

Even with young kids this is a perfect 30-60 mins relax, un-wind and re charge ready to enjoy the lakes again. Little pricey

Had a lovely and well informed return trip to Ambleside. Staff were lovely and friendly when boarding and departing the boat. A must do when you visit Windermere.

We booked the 45min tour round Windermere with our 5yr old god daughter. We found the trip very informative and interesting, but I think the trip was a bit long for a 5yr old , she lost interest half way round the tour . The boat had a little coffee shop/ hatch on board which was reasonable priced . Over... More

We enjoyed the benefit of a Freedom of the Lake ticket, if you buy before 11.30am on a Friday morning (offer known as Freedom Friday's!) you get a discount. We visited Lakeside, Brockhole, Ambleside and Wray Castle and found the service very good and the boats comfortable. Freedom ticket ideal if you want to visit various places and don't want... More

My husband and I hired a "luxury cabin boat" for our own little trip around the lake. In all fairness I wouldn't call it luxury, and it did have an empty drinks bottle on board. However having said that I can't deny that we had a great little hour. The boats are quite slow, however I appreciate this is a... More

Initially went to Ambleside, with my 14 year old son, with a view to doing the ferry thing. Then, we saw the row boat hire offered by the cruise people and, with it being a nice day, thought.... Why not? The price is good - £15 an hour. The lady who I dealt with, super nice and helpful. Got the... More

I went on yellow cruise from bowness to lakeside with steam train to hatherthwaite, it cost £33 for 2 adults and my 4 yr old went free. Nice relaxing 40min trip to lakeside, shame about refreshment choice cheap tea/coffee and only sugary drinks for kids. Steam train was good too

a nice sailing up to Ambleside on a lovely sunny day takes about twenty mins if you get off at Ambleside or 70 mins if you stay on for the full cruise
