Well a sunny day, so off out. Today we drove down to beautiful Dorset, Weymouth has a stunning golden sand beach, and safe for all ages to swim, when water warms up! But we chose the Northe gardens, and Fort to visit. First a spot of lunch at the wonderful Nothe cafe, there we were told of Russel the crow, who see off any seagull who dares to flies down.Russel reward a bit of food from cafe owners. The food is great and very good prices, parking easy too. Then to the Great Northe Fort, very cheap to visit, dates back 1859, used for DDay too. Cafe. Toilets, lift ,so very easy to go around, ramps too. Gift shop, models display, and small children can look for toy mice in displays around Fort. Then time for ice cream, and cuppa before ,home.

Enjoyed several hours discovering the history varied uses and recovery of the fort. Additional interest on during our visit was a navy military band practising manouvres for Armed Forces day. Good cafe.

We were in the area and walked up here from the coastal path which was a nice walk. The gardens were good to have a walk around with good views from the higher up parts. The Fort is here which you have to pay to get into which on this occasion we didn't get the chance to. There are some toilets near the car park and also a little play area for kids by the car park. There were a few squirrels about which aren't afraid and will come up to you which this happened to us.
If you are in the area and the weather is good this is worth having a walk around

We decided to have a walk around Nothe Gardens while walking from our holiday accomodation to town. There are various paths so if you have a pushchair or wheelchair you will have to plan your route. There are various wooden sculptures around the gardens and a nice view out to sea. A nice pleasant walk.

Lovely views to sit and admire. You can see Portland clearly and it's harbour. Because of the Covid 19 virus, there were up to 10 cruise ships anchored about 5 miles out into the bay, so lovely to view. The gardens are lovely for all the family to come to. There is a play area with swings etc., plenty of seats, large grass areas, walks around to the southern bay of Newton's Cove one way and the stone pier via the rocks. It's a little steep in places, but plenty of pathways to take you all the way up or down the area.

No the gardens are just a 20min walk from the Town Centre. They have stunning views and link well with the coast path taking you round to Chisel Beach. Gardens have plenty of shade but hilly for the less able.

Weymouth is the most anti-dog town I have ever visited. The Nothe Gardens is the biggest green space in central Weymouth with the coast path running through it and dogs must be on leads. You can let your dog off lead on the plastic strewn, crowded corner of the beach that passes as a dog beach but do look out for broken glass as we found lots.
It's a If you want to exercise your dog off lead then go elsewhere on holiday. Weymouth is a rubbish place to go for dog owners.

Gorgeous walk around the nothe gardens, breathtaking views of Portland, keep following the path and you come to Newton's cove a little beach where locals swim, also you can watch paddle boarders and scuba diving. Splendid little ice cream shop, the ice creams are huge, great for sharing.

There's plenty to enjoy in Nothe Gardens - great views across to Portland and along the Jurassic coast, play equipment for kids and plenty of paths to explore. Plus it's all close to the harbour so walkable really from wherever you are in Weymouth.

The gardens are outside NOTHE FORT. Plenty of parking at the top of the hill. The Fort is open on Sunday's out of season. Really worth a visit too. Good cafe in the Fort. In season there is a cafe on the approach road to the Fort and gardens parking area. Fantastic views of Weymouth Bay and towards Portland Bill on the other side.

I can you tell me if Nothe Gardens are part of Nothe Fort? I think what I'm really asking is are the gardens free or part of the admission fee for the Fort?
We're going to Weymouth this Friday for hubby's bday & looking for things to do on a budget,
Thanks Christine
